of course, the most famous installation of the hammering man can actually be found in the university district of seattle. outside the blue moon tavern on 45th.

it's the "hammering a beer" man. and you thought watching the fish throwers at pike place market was a good time!

yeah, you guys are right! all the towns in my list are small towns. however, most of them are located 20 minutes or less from major cities. for example, alexandria, va, is right outside d.c. doylestown, pa, is right outside philly. newport, ri, is near both providence and boston, etc. so, i got both...

salt is added to butter as a preservative and for flavor, but most really good cooks will go for the unsalted kind, which is a lot sweeter than salted butter, and also contains less water (which makes it better for baking and frying). plus, it gives you a lot more control over the flavors of your di...

it doesn't even have to be your credit card and rental car. and if you do it that way, the tour could even end with a fabulous shoot-out scene between you and the 5-0.

could be great for record sales! i say go for it!

most of my seattle friends know who harvey danger and the long winters are, but would never admit it in public. they're all in the local punk music scene, where such things are not discussed openly. except by me, of course. and i have the scars and bruises to prove it!! take THAT! the things i do fo...

YES. I agree with you COMPLETELY. Does TNT still show reruns of that? I used to cry EVERY TIME he got the pemmican kicked out of him in that Christmas episode. it's not on TNT anymore, but you can buy the first and second seasons on DVD at the Canadian branch of amazon.com. third season coming soon.

My favorite thing about Canada: Constable Benton Fraser, RCMP, the only Boyfriend of the Week ever to give MacGyver a real run for his money. http://www.paulgross.com/images/mountiedog1.jpg Also, Canada is the only place you can get sugar-free Juicy Fruit gum. That's good stuff.

meg, that's really cool! how did you get all this "attention", if you dont mind me asking? i guess you didnt just call USA Today..... pure word of mouth -- people who read the site tell others about it, who tell others, who tell others, who turn out to be writers at various publications. it's been ...

the other good thing about the write-up is that it's already made john roderick, et al, some money. at least three dozen people have emailed me to say they have bought or are about to buy both albums. and since i have over a hundred thousand regular readers, it's likely a few more have done the same...

"blanket hog" isn't my favorite song, but musically-speaking, i think it's really interesting. the piano part may be simple, but i think that's intentional -- the song opens with a whirr of noise and then all of a sudden, just when you think it's about to rock out, this quiet piano comes wafting in ...
