Re: John and JoCo

They're pretty nice shirts, and as a bonus John told us that this was the first night they were available. I wasn't the first person to buy one but oh well.

Re: John and JoCo

I don't have imgur or tumblr or anything like that and I can't be bothered to make an account. Is there any site I can upload the pictures to without jumping through hoops, like Facebook?

Re: John and JoCo

I saw John (both) at The Ark in Ann Arbor last night. I didn't know much about JoCo, just the Zombie song and I'd heard Code Monkey a couple times. Roderick played a pretty short set but he was the opening act so that was expected. We got Scared Straight, Shapes, Carparts, Prom Night at Hater High (...

Re: Talk about your Guitar here.

My electric guitars are an Epiphone SG Standard and a Mexican Fender Telecaster Standard. They go wheedle wheedle, and if I stomp on the pedals they go rawr-rawr-rawr! My acoustic is a Glen Burton something-something, made in China. It has electronics in it and it's a cherryburst color with a deep a...

Re: Long Winters Catalog Review

I do have a small issue with your reviews. Worst You Can Do is pretty much awesome, yes. When I Pretend To Fall is indeed awesome, you don't need the reservation in your statement. However, Ultimatum is awesome but does not lose points. Commander Thinks Aloud and Ultimatum are on this EP. Also Delic...

Re: guitar tabs

I got the Connections in Nashville 7" a while ago, and that song is dank. I'm working on it now, here's what I have: The intro and the first 4 or whatever lines are just a G barre chord strummed, it sounds cool if you play it open when the piano chord is hit and fade back into the strumming. C...

Re: Tube Amps...

Has the world caught on to these Traynors? I've been looking on Craigslist/eBay and they're not nearly as cheap as I want them to be. Would it be worth it to make a trip into C-Land one weekend and just browse used music shops?

Re: Recording your own music

Update: I subscribed to Tape Op, that magazine is incredible. There is so much new information for me, a huge thanks to whoever told me to subscribe. I've been tinkering around with the vocals and they're manageable. I don't think I'm hitting the Billboard Top 25 anytime soon. I was playing a mini-s...

Re: eBay man sells PTDTB guitar

I think everyone loves the WIPTF album art. An ex of mine used that swirly-line-color thing in an art project of hers, it turned out really cool and was hung up in the community art show. I know she gave The Long Winters credit, but I doubt anyone knew/cared. Back to my original point, I'd buy a gui...

For those of you interested in playing with electronic music

This flash script has a couple drum machines, bass machines, a fistfull of effect pedals and other goodies. I imagine this is what it was like for Afrika Bambaataa in the 80's.

Re: Rock band

My vote is something like Rich Wife, or Departure. Rich Wife seems like a better choice to introduce people who have never heard the Winters. It's gotta be something that has a cool, prominent guitar part and words that are fun to sing. Also, add a great guitar solo.

Re: Thirteen Songs

I have to ask the stupid question - what makes a poem a poem and what makes lyrics... lyrics? I'm no expert, but poems have more to do with making the words sound good, choosing the right words to convey the emotion the author wants to the reader who has nothing but the actual text to go by. Lyrics...

Subscribed. Also, what are the thoughts on double-tracking vocals? Is this an easier way to make a sub-par voice passable for a recording?

Re: Recording your own music

This is why so few singers are good studio engineers, because they have a song idea and want to record it fast, they don't want to try fifty ways of recording it. Engineering requires patience and experimentation, and if you want to do it on the cheap it also requires scouring junk shops and ebay f...

A mic from Radioshack, the only brand name is "Radioshack". I had a Shure mic, but my old bandmate has it.
