Yeah, you're right. This board could use some Euro-perspective ;-)
I will promise to make more of an effort to keep up with this forum. Hopefully this will speed up a new release of our beloved Winters.
And Utrecht is most certainly the center of The Netherlands!

When you're using reverb on vocals it's almost always immediately too much. That's what I've discovered. You have to be careful or you'll swim in a cathedral of sound, unless you're blending voices Beach Boys style.
No reverb I say, get a decent room to sing in!

And the Kikkoman-movie which looks like an ad for soy sauce is once again proof that one man's trash is another man's hi-brow cultural statement.

You should also check out the BBC science site. Loaded with cool stuff.

Do people without a white coat and lab, but with a lot of books about French thinkers, popular culture and musicology, a computer and a whole bunch of pencils count as a scientist?

I've fallen totally in love with the new Squier Custom Tele '72 rip-off. I played through it in the store an it sounded better than a G&L Tele and could almost keep up with a Gibson SG. It's fantastically inexpensive and I can't wait 'till I've bought one. First I'll have to check my piggy bank.

So the new TLW-album is gonna sound like David Gilmour playing through The Edge's set-up?

How about the Ibanez Tube Screamer? Nice crunchy sound and still sounding like a guitar instead of a drill. And like John was saying (back in November) chorus is almost always way too much.

Barefaced Messiah is the biography of good old L. Ron Hubbard. Great bedtime reading material. He thought up scientology just like all his (B-movie) sci-fi trash novelettes. Truth is stranger than fiction, time and time again.

A good tribute-band is something quite different from a Top 40/Hots of the day kind of coverband. When a band really tries to capture the spirit (costumes, instruments etc.) of a particular era. Like The Bootleg Beatles who come terrifyingly close to the original. Or Whole Lotta Zep who for instance...

X-mas in LA

I know the TLW-board ain't no holiday planner, but still, are there any native Angelites who can tell me what's cool to do 'round X-mas in Los Angeles? Also tips for places to stay and stuff to eat are welcome. Me and my girl will be in town from the 24th. Thanks already.

What about some fine Belgian Beer? I recommend (yeah, please do tell us, mighty Beerhunter!) the Leffe Triple or "Moeder Overste" (=Mother Superior) or Delirium Tremens (with pink elefants on the bottle). Beers with a lot more alcohol (8%-9%) and a lot more flava. With a few of these down the hatch ...

The Long Winters ain't the only ones who made a killer album. So here are some sounds from the other side of The Great Divide: 1. Mull Historical Society - Us (great singer/songwriter DIY tunes from the Isle of Mull) 2. Jagga Jazzist - The Stix (you've never heard anything like this Norwegian 10 pie...
