Re: New Long Winters Show - 11/8/13

Amazing show. Two things I'd say: The Long Winters are complete with Sean in the band. The live vocal harmonies he and Roderick achieve are a rare thing. I can't help but think but what would have happened had Sean stayed in the band and they made more records together. We all know the songwriting g...

Re: new wing in the Long Winters Library

hey Liesbeth, nice job, thanks for the mention ... for posterity's sake, the Long Horns played with the LWs a couple other times not listed:

13 April 2007: Portland, OR - Doug Fir Lounge
26 May 2007: George, WA - Sasquatch! Festival

Talkin' Guitar Shop with John

Having the distinct pleasure to sit in with the LWs over the last few years, I've also had some great but all-too-brief conversations with JR regarding gear. As with most topics, John's opinions on guitars, amps and their history is highly compelling and, of course, his acerbic wit is in full effect...

"Right there he not only achieved a very special musical moment, he also saved on paying for a bunch of horn players."

For those keeping score ... us Long Horns also joined the LW's for The Band's "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" at the New Year's 2004 Heaven and Hell Ball, as well as a very loose take on Van Halen's "Running with the Devil" at the Croc later that spring.

Good times, Russ ... good times.

PK - Croc 8/23

It's a very special episode of Puppet King this Tuesday, 8/23 at the Crocodile. Also on the bill are Meat the Vegan and Dope Smoothie (which coincidentally is the Tuesday night special at Carmelita ...) And while PK has never been much to look at (except Marc's sideburns), our sheer ugliness will be...

Part-time Long Wintersss @ Tost this Friday

In the prolonged absence of the real L-Dubs, I submit to you the opportunity to see their horn-playing collaborator, now weilding guitar and vocals in my band Puppet King. I'm no J-Rod but I do have a beard. Mine will not frighten you in any way, however. I might even share some inside details (most...

wow, its dumbfounding to listen to this clown on some of the other performances in the archive, which is quite impressive. radio shows are always awkward but the between-song banter is just painful with this guy. how the hell does someone acheive "legendary" status and have such an "influential" rad...

Puppet King 10/16

Puppet King is playing this Saturday at Lo-Fi (429B Eastlake Ave, next to the Lobo). Show starts at 9, Quinn W. Shagbark and Estocar are opening, and at $5, you'll pay mere pennies for each rawktastic moment. We close the show, so we'll go on around 11 and play for about an hour. After that, we'll b...

I think the actual President matters very little ... it is who he surrounds himself with that makes the difference, that truly effects policy. Puppet King, 8/19

Hello, Charles the Longhorns trumpeteer here .... I also sing and play guitar for Puppet King, we're playing the Sunset Tavern this Thursday, Aug. 19. We go on second, at around 9:45, after the lovely Amy Blashcke, and before the stunning El Capitan. What do we sound like, you might ask? Maybe a lit...

the LongHorns serve at the pleasure of King Roderick God-Mang, including, but not limited to, retrieving wayward eyeglasses and serving as the foil for bawdy wisecracks. there are murmurs about the L-horns possibly playing at the Gorge, we shall see. of course, we'd love to. as for future dates, yes...
