I think I'm closest to the path of destruction - about 45 minutes south/southwest. It came through the middle of the night - and I had no idea it was even storming until the next morning I saw the water had soaked everything up to 3 feet in on my enclosed back porch. They did send out e-mails asking...

Hey pancakes this is kind of an aside - but you mentioned homeless and Austin - and I just saw this documentary "Art From the Streets" a guy did on the art program they have at one of the homeless shelters there where they have a huge annual art sale. Have you heard of it? I would also read your boo...

I'm a dork. I often spill things on myself, and I am inherently goofy - which I associate with dorkdom. Although I'd like to think of myself as a dork with a great sense of style to offset the fact that I often get red wine and/or coffee (I don't eat gravy) stains on my clothing.

Essays anyone?

So I recently became a member of an Essay Club - we get together once a week and discuss an essay someone has selected. The coolest part of it is that it's held at the Kerouac House in Orlando - he actually lived here with his mom when he On The Road was published and he also wrote Dharma Bums at th...

Pico Iyer fills my heart. I can't describe his writing any other way. He offers so much insight and philosophy, and he's so well read and simultaneously aware of pop culture, that I learn something fascinating or am made to think deeply every three pages. And his words are gorgeous. All travel writ...

No need to apologize for your posting habits squid! I wasn't trying to insinuate anything - at least my conscious mind wasn't!

It was just weird -- and it all kinda looked like Smashing Pumpkin's Tonight, Tonight video....

Even weirder because I don't know what the people who post here look like - but you all had t-shirts with your boardname on...
