mmm...bacon...I could go for a peanut butter & bacon sandwich. Too bad I just got back from the store (no bacon). I think my favorite bacon-containing treat is a bacon maple bar from Voodoo Donuts in Portland. I always have to bring a box of them back on the plane for my bacon-donut loving frien...

No You Are wrote:I do believe it starts today, right?

Yep, started this morning. A fact that my no-good friend reminded me of this morning (not that I'm at all jealous...). And he said the weather was good for a concert as of this morning (not too hot, partly cloudy).

Ok, I'll be the nerd-scientist here (surprise!). I want to see the primary data/article that this article is based on. They refer to the "finger-length ratios" and I'm curious to know if they're discussing a simple ratio of ring:index of less than one or greater than one or if there's a more subtle ...

I'm probably a little late on this, but I can't stop listening to the new Of Montreal (Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?). It took a few listens to grow on me but I've been listening to it at least 1x a day for the past week or so... Also been on quite the Beatles kick of late. Lots of Sgt. Pepp...

The lineup at Sasquatch isn't exactly chopped liver...plus the Gorge is a pretty damn amazing spot to see a show. I thought about going to Bonnaroo with a friend but they had something come up and can't go and it'd be way more $$$ to go by myself, so I guess there are no big festival shows in my fut...

Why are sudokus etc. for retarded people?.... I think the idea is that they take time and effort, yet don't leave you with any product, skill, or knowledge. Like having a hobby of completely filling in a sheet of paper with a pencil, then immediately throwing it away. Ah, but they do (usually) keep...

Reuben sandwiches are either great or disgusting, I don't think there's any middle ground (I'm in the second category...). Contents typically include corned beef, swiss cheese and sauerkraut (that's the deal-breaker for me...) top that off with some thousand island-ish dressing and grill/broil to wa...

Go to Top Pot and get a donut & cup of coffee. Mmm...donut... I've always liked the market early in the morning--grab a cup of coffee and a pastry from one of the places across the street in the sanitary market (I've always loved that name), or a crumpet from the crumpet shop (on the west side o...

GeoGeek! Nerd species are just coming out of the walls around here.... :) I love it. We should totally make a TLW-board taxonomy. We could group by nerd vs geek vs dork (that conversation was here, yes?) at the top and then subdivide those classes into smaller and smaller groups illustrating the hi...

I have XP on both my work comp and my new laptop...I'm avoiding vista for as long as possible, particularly on the laptop. If they make us switch at work I'll be ok with it, I suppose, because there are assorted tech guys to make things work and it won't be screwing with a computer bought with my ha...

Two of the biochemistry faculty at work have a son (he's mid-20s-ish) who reportedly has the periodic table tatooed on his back (I don't know him and have never seen proof, but I'm pretty sure it's true). Their sons (twins) are also named Tim and Tom (for those non-biochem-nerds, the TIM and TOM com...

I miss egg hunts...I was talking to my Mom last night and my sister and nephew were at our parents' house dyeing eggs for this weekend (he's a year and a half old, so just at the point where an egg hunt could be fun), and I had the sudden urge to run out and buy a dye kit and some non-brown eggs, bu...

You guys rock...it's so nice to be able to hear all these shows and get a bit of a LW's fix since it's been almost 3 years since I've seen 'em.

(the band rocks as well, for being so cool with all this taping...and, well, because they make the ROCK happen :)
