While tattoos are no big deal anymore, you have to understand that it was a tremendous decision for me to get this much work done. It is both thrilling and terrifying and I will bore people to tears with long discussions about the Edo period if you let me so I'll stop there. Suffice it to say, whil...

1. Scared Straight
2. Blue Diamonds
3. Samaritan
4. Cinnamon
5. Scent of Lime

I'm not sure this is how I would rank them but Scared Straight, Samaritan and Scent of Lime would all definitely be there and Blue Diamonds and Cinnamon are certainly close behind.

I'd probably lose the head, though.

Ouch. I was going to use something a little less recent and go with Anne Boleyn. Kudos to you.

My brother's wife is also around 5'2" and he's 6'5" so it must be a family thing. There are a lot of the little pda type things that we can't really do like hold hands, have her throw her arm over my shoulder, etc. Otherwise, physiologically it all works about the same. In fact, without going into d...

Tallness has many advantages: chiefly, a guaranteed clear sightline at shows. As irksome as it may be to feel consistently relegated to the back out of regard for more vertically challenged audience members, it’s the right thing to do. Because studying the T-shirt of the 6-foot-5 jerk in front of y...

I was there, right up front when John "dropped trow" at the Decemberists show at the Showbox. He came out and danced with Jenny during the bridge of "The Chimbley Sweep" and sure enough the pants rebelled. I could tell that it really did offend their delicate sensibilities.

This may be slightly too late, but yes, you should! I've seen them a couple times and they were amazing. Ted is a rare raw vocal and guitar talent and the band itself is really tight. My only bit of advice: if you don't like guys who stand still while they play then don't get stuck in front of Dave ...

really? I like zoos. They educate people enormously and create a desire to learn in children. I love to walk around and just marvel at the sheer VARIETY of life on this planet, the strange shapes and behavior of creatures. Yes, people often don't understand what animal behaviors mean. But I don't t...

Bottomline: these are animals, not people. I know plenty of people who would do the same thing... I have no use for zoos unless they house and attempt to repopulate endangered species. Even then I wish they could all get their revenue elsewhere and not have to make it a spectacle for the masses. Re...

Here's the setlist for the show at Wulapalooza at Wilamette University in Salem, OR on 4/28/07. Again, in keeping with tradition, I can only seem to remember the order of the first and last couple songs. "Sky Is Open" and "Rich Wife" are right; "It's A Departure" and "Nora" (the twelve minute versio...

Also, in Portland they played the beginning of Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith and John started doing Fight For Your Right by the Beastie Boys up through the first chorus, it was pretty awesome. They did this again in Yakima on Friday but this time John busted into some Eminem at the end which was nice....

My girlfriend and I are definitely going and it will be our second LWs show in as many nights. She went to WU for a year so she's going to get to see some of her friends while we're there (some of whom will be performing). It will be a good birthday weekend for us.

I know you already know that my girlfriend and I are coming so this is more or less just reaffirming the fact that I'm excited. I don't usually get excited about my birthday but this year is going to be different; how often do you get to see your favorite band on your birthday? That's rhetorical...

Yay, I finally saw it. It was on twice within the same hour on TBS. I'd say the song upped the likeability of the movie tenfold. Now if only TLW played throughout the entirety of the film then I might actually go see it.

So it does! My girlfriend went to WU and we found out through her friends who apparently helped book the boys. I wasn't sure if it was a public facing affair or a WU student exclusive though. Yay!

I'm really into randomly finding Greener grads all over. For being a relatively small liberal arts school, we're everywhere. A ton of the people I knew at Evergreen were from out of state. I found that it has a really good reputation outside of Washington for some reason. I left because I was blind...

That would be great. They should even mic them up between songs. I'm sure there'd be some great banter amongst the three Johns.

Hmm, that's my birthday and I'm flying into Seatac that morning...They supposedly have another show the day after but I've yet to confirm it with my sources and it's as of yet unannounced. Maybe I'll have to go to both. Indeed.
