Yep, that was me. They played my request almost immediately and you'd been calling for it all show so I figured I'd lend my loud voice to the cause.

What year are you? I graduated from TESC, too. Go Geoducks! 2004, you? I remember you saying in another thread that you were from Olympia so that makes sense now. John asked for a show of hands of people who majored in science in college and I had to raise mine, even though technically I didn't "ma...

A They Might Be Giants song that they covered for a compilation called "Hello Radio: The Songs of They Might Be Giants." Hence why I think it might be a longshot to hear live. I do love me some TMBG though, especially when covered by TLW. I'm feeling acronymous...

It was a great set. I was holding out hope for some more songs off the first album, but I wasn't too worried about it. Also, I would someday like to hear them do "Everything is Talking" and "Pet Name" but those are a bit obscure to honestly expect without some planning (especially in the case of the...

Spring 2007 setlists

Figured I'd get this topic started and Liesbeth or another moderator can sticky it for me. I know these are the right songs; it isn't in perfect order but I think it's pretty close. 23 songs plus a blues jam. Many were by request. March 10, 2007 at the Independent: Seven Fire Island, A.K. Scent of L...

YES.

I've only ever made mix CDs for people I know; it will be interesting to put one together for someone I don't.

I just got back from the first night of their American tour (which now moves to Canada?) and I can no longer hear thoughts. I'll post an out of order setlist tomorrow when I'm actually alive again. However, a quote (hopefully verbatim) should suffice for now. John while speaking about how TLW doesn'...

I was at the Independent about a week ago for the Reverend Horton Heat show and at that time it was a purple pterodactyl. Hope that helps ya, prudence.

Yep and I have my tickets. I found out because I was looking at the Independent's site to buy tickets for the Mountain Goats who are playing two nights there just before TLW. I'm ecstatic; it's going to be a good week of shows.

albums from 2006 that i thought i'd like a whole lot more than i did: 1. belle & sebastian - "the life pursuit" 2. the mountain goats - "get lonely" 2. the decemberists - "the crane wife" perhaps i just need some more time with the crane wife, but it hasn't come close to hitting me in the way t...

Duh, Squires; I should have caught that. That makes sense now and you're right that isn't even his fault. He read a review of them in English and actually did a decent job with it but then he couldn't say Mike's name right; I think that may have contributed to my confusion. Either that or I need mor...

Along the topic of the DJ getting things wrong: right before Commander in the introduction, he lists the members of the band as John Roderick, Eric Corson, a name I could barely make out and didn't recognize and then Nabil Ayers. The third name sounded like Mike Sores, Sellers, or something to that ...

That reminds me of how I always have to move older Decemberists, Death Cab, Elliott Smith, etc CDs to the front of every row in the "Indie Rock" section at Borders. Yes, Borders has an "Indie Rock" section. No, I don't know what that means, but I do know that when I think "Indie Rock" I honestly don...

The gf and I flew in to Seatac on Monday night and luckily it just started snowing as we got to Tacoma during the drive down to Olympia. It was pretty surreal for it to be snowy and icy the whole time we were home though as most years it doesn't snow at all. It was fun but a kind of a pain in the as...

I've been cursing my luck ever since I heard about this show. My girlfriend and I were back home in WA from Monday until last night; we flew back one day too soon!

Hopefully they come back to SF in the very near future.

That man is John Hodgman (yes, one more John for this thread) and I was happy to see him in those videos. He wrote a book called The Areas of My Expertise which deals with a variety of topics, one of the more interesting being a list of hobo names. There's actually a project out there that solicits ...

I'm not sure if this was ever mentioned before (maybe no one else on here was at the show) but when TMBG played at the Moore Theatre in Seattle last November they opened for themselves with a set of the venue songs. During this set they had a man standing center stage at a podium narrating the journ...

One GIGANTIC addition to the setlist... John at the beginning of the show asked for requests, so I yelled out Stupid. Well he did the same thing for the encore. I was plastered by this time, so I yelled "Play a cover", and he fucking played King of Carrot Flowers. Completely unexpected, and since I...

My girlfriend and I got the setlist from the Fillmore in SF on 9/8. It was their first show after John's solo tour and although he said he had just flown in and hadn't slept in 24 hours, the show still rocked our faces clean off. So much so we had no face left for Feist to rock off, which she very e...
