Re: Shameless Self Promotion 3: The Shamening

Also, tonight is the opening night gala, after which, there will be free champagne and sparkling cider and cake.

p.s. in the picture above, I'm the first elf, but I'll play different roles on any given night.

Shameless Self Promotion 3: The Shamening

Hey, guess what? I'm in another improv show in Seattle! http://www.wingitpresents.com/rudolph/images/rudolph-pic.jpg The show is sort of based off of the classic stop-motion animated Rudolph cartoon from 1964. Our show is what happens AFTER Rudolph, Santa, and all the other reindeer go flying off in...

Re: Article by John in the Seattle Weekly Reverb Residency

but it must be so boring for a band themselves to always know what's coming next! Unless there are a few songs in the set that they haven't played in 5+ years or so. Then it's like, "oh man, the super fans are going to freak when we play the opening chords of this one!" Or if there are so...

Re: John to Appear at John Lennon Tribute 10/9/2010

I was at this show! It was pretty fun, though I was disappointed that John only sang one song. That song by the way was Jealous Guy, and was sung beautifully. So many good renditions of Lennon songs, and one Paul song. Excellent use of the two free passes the Triple Door gave us when John's 2nd show...

Re: John to Play Three Shows This Summer at The Triple Door

I only have time for a really quick report and set list. I'm sure others will give a more detailed report than I can right now. It was an awesome (mostly) John + Eric duo show that involved Arcade Fire jokes, drummer jokes, forgotten lyrics, perimeter checks, instrument switching, a Jason Finn (of t...

It was played live acoustically by John solo many times before the recording of PTDTB. I may even have bootleg recordings of it somewhere...

Re: John to Play Three Shows This Summer at The Triple Door

Yeah, I got the phone call a little too late. We showed up and they told us. I have to say though, I was really impressed with how the Triple Door staff handled it. They gave both my fiancee and I a free drink, and a coupon for two free tickets to an upcoming show between now and November. They were...

Re: John to Play Three Shows This Summer at The Triple Door

Just a note for anyone who's planning to attend the other shows. If you haven't been to the Triple Door you may not be aware of their seating policy. Only groups of four or more get seated at booths. If you show up by yourself, even if you're early, they're going to seat you further to the back. (O...

Re: John to Play Three Shows This Summer at The Triple Door

Whoa. Crazy awesome show last night. Lots to talk about. The setlist: Give Me A Moment Sound of Coming Down Samaritan Hindsight Galaxy's End (a song by John's first Seattle band, Chautauqua, circa 1991) Copernicus Shane (a song by John's next Seattle band, The Bun Family Players) Delicate Hands Comm...

"The Newton Girls" live at the Crocodile 26 May 2010

Wooooo, great show! My first TLW show in over a year, first show since I've been back in the USA, and first show in the newly remodeled Crocodile (way different, like whoa). I had a great time, it had been too, too long. A bit of a different lineup than we've been used to: John and Eric on guitars a...

Re: West Coast tour

If you're driving up the Oregon coast, take Highway 101. It's a beautiful scenic drive, much nicer than I-5. Also to keep in mind if you're buying souvenirs, Oregon has no sales tax. Also, don't know if you're into Shakespeare, but Ashland Oregon (near the California/Oregon border) has a world-class...

Sorry it took so long for me to get your mixes out to you Liesbeth! I was having problems getting to the post office when they were open, and when I got there, they had to look up where the Netherlands was! I hope you enjoy the mixes as I enjoyed making them.
