I cannot tell you how freakin' excited I am for these shows. The fact that work has been kicking my ass for the last couple of months only makes me even more ready to rock out with the River Otters. See you at the show... This is great news! Be sure and scoop up advance tix and bring along some fri...

That's interesting that you say that, because when I saw them last saturday, I would almost venture to say the Decemberists outplayed TLW, which I know might be blasphemy on this board, but they really had me floored. I didn't show up until after the Places had already played. I don't think that's ...

SF next week: Let's sell out the last two shows

I'm unilaterally declaring that the two San Francisco shows next week (6/27 and 6/28) that end the Long Winters' tour with the Decemberists should: * sell out before show day * be filled with a healthy plurality of L-Dubs fans * liberate the band of all merchandise remaining in the big blue van To t...

J-Rod with Ben Lee, Max Fischer, nice girl named Lara

http://www.ben-lee.com/news/index.htm Nice photo and shoutout via the site of the wonderful Ben Lee. The Long Winters (http://www.thelongwinters.com) are one of my favourite things about the world. Amazing amazing. Nada Surf turned me on to them, and I'm making it my mission to turn YOU on to them. ...

In other news, I'm thinking it might be helpful to develop some kind of interactive timeline of John's eyeglasses. I think I'm about two pairs behind right now, and this latest Elvis "TCB" model has me disoriented but curious.

Video: "Bride & Bridle" / Gothic Theater

Doff of the cap to Carlitos for this swell video of the L-Dubs doing "Bride and Bridle" at the Gothic Theater (Denver) on June 1st.

Download it

Zipped WMV clocking in at about 5.5 mb.

(BTW, let me know if the DL gives you guys any trouble--I'm testing out FreeCache)

ATL Show / Echo Lounge show on 6/17 now 21+

On a tip from a friend, I called the Echo Lounge and, unfortunately, the Decemberists/TLW show on Thursday (June 17th) is now 21+ only (not "all ages" as previously advertised).

Sorry to bear bad tidings. It's "The Man®," not the band.

I'd say this is better than a virtual beer shower, Merlin. I know it definitely beats Kum-ba-ya in a tent.

Hey, don't knock it til you tried it. It's a very big tent.

I'm keen to hear where these came from.

For whatever reason I keep thinking it's a film from the late 70s that involves Burt Reynolds, Dom Deluise, Raquel Welch, some 18-wheelers, and perhaps a chimp.

Dan how can you ruin the operatic near-end of this thread with an intervention? That's just wrong, man.

Because life is precious. And God. And the Bible.
