Alki (along with Golden Gardens) are about as beachy as it gets within Seattle City limits. There *is* sand, but much of it is pebbles and rocks, and Alki especially tends to be pretty overloaded with seaweed. In addition to hosting beach parties, Alki was the the original location of "Seattle", and...

When I was in Portland last week, just prior to that article coming out, we kept on remarking how the city reminded us of a dirty Disneyland. Re: trains, they built the low speed South Lake Union Trolley (which they quickly renamed before it was even done) and there were two collisions in the first ...

I agree with Squid, though I came into the game late enough to see the madness of adding any applications. I might check my barebones facebook about once a week, but consider this my suggestion for any of you to "look me up". There aren't many Flyns, you can probably figure out which one I am; I'm t...

I actually *was* in Portland for the weekend, but got outvoted and ended up at the Roller Derby that particular night.

You can get Faygo at Ezell's Chicken; I'm not sure if the Puget Sound Juggalos get it there, or have it shipped in, but it's nice to have options other than Mountain Dew.

I have no doubt this was accurate in 2003, but I really think that the internet has changed things. Seattle is still pop territory, but I know I'm saying soda more, as are the people around me.

Battlestar Galactica is Awesome. So say we all.

Probably my other favorite show is The Venture Brothers, part of the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim lineup; I watch every episode at least twice the week it airs.

Cook's Illustrated felt that the cornbread was pretty good, though obviously not as good as home made, which jives with my experience. I vaguely remember their pizza dough as being not very good, though I might be confusing it with Appian Way Pizza Mix, which is the least appetizing food packaging e...

Doesn't ring a bell, though Jiffy is some pretty good stuff, considering the low price; not sure how it sounds, though.

Once when I was like 16, I signed a petition while in line for a They Might Be Giants show, and I put the first two letters of my name too close together, so I received mail for "Ayn O_____" for the next 5 years or so. Which could be a nice name for any possible daughters that I want to champion the...

This is how rumors get started... pure calculating deceit.

Actually, Friday Mile *is* good, but I think it's important to avoid the situation that international rock superstars The Decemberists put Obama in in Portland. Wouldn't want people to think that FM was carrying The Long Winters, you know?

There are some people out there who are completely detached from reality. I greatly enjoy the Decemberists, but there's no way they have that kind of crowd drawing power.
