To be fair to them, the album you probably saw came out in 1988, which is generally considered to be part of "the eighties".

You just gotta keep checking craigslist, Grant. I *love* Scientific American Frontiers, but it was always shown so sporadically that I've probably seen 5 or 6 episodes. Now that I have TiVo, it's not shown locally, though you can watch them online now, I see.

Now put it in a song. TMBG, Decemberists, I'm looking at you. Magnetic Fields, can you have a backup song ready? I'd like to make this happen soon.

Ken has had some strange hair over the years. Your link is already gone, and Prince's lawyers should be sending you a letter regarding your watching of the video, and subsequent compliments.

I should clarify that, as I recall, he was taking issue with it directly with John, while on stage or possibly a radio appearance. But, it's possible that he was taking issue with it being written from the standpoint of someone in a persistent vegetative state, or something else that would preclude ...

I am a longtime Posies fan, and my very first concert was the first "endfest" for KNDD, to which I tagged along with my sister at the age of 13 in the summer of 1992. I meant to respond earlier, but wanted to hear the "official" version of it; I was thinking there might be some discs available at th...

Unless this is some sort of Canada thing that I don't understand, I think you mean "bated breath".

I thought the first picture looked a bit like Sam Kinison, but clearly he died before the advent of terrible camera phones. A Disc Camera, perhaps?

You can get cable for way less than the cost of a wedding ring! I'm pretty sure some friends have employed that method before, though I almost think if you can say your husband is in Afghanistan with a straight face, you might be able to tell people to get lost firmly without the ring. I've yet to l...

At least the last time I saw them was with TLW opening in Spokane, a week or so before Transatlanticism came out, so that was a damn good show to end things on (for now, at least). My current quasi-overpriced concert dilemma is Wilco for $40 or so. Hrm. (and I just dropped significantly more than s...

I was at the previous night's show, which was good, but John didn't get on stage; I would've liked to have seen that. Chelsea went both nights, but I haven't heard about it yet.

Kent Brockman: We've come up with a camera so tiny it fits into this oversized novelty hat.

Some pretty impressive footage, but it seems like they might want to invest in some sort of non-reflective coating, to keep animals from becoming enraged by their own reflections.

friend of mine from highschool works at the goog. i'll pass this along. That is cool, but how much longer must the world wait for google maps to provide us with a moving red line and some John Williams music? I was gonna make a joke about how it should, ideally, be Indiana Jones music rather than *...

I'd like to state, for the record, that this was not staged; although I apparently live about a mile from Chris, I was not aware that he owned such a shirt, nor that such a shirt even existed. I usually see him in HD or LW shirts.
