That sounds like a lot of fun, but I'm afraid I'm too far away to make it. Have a great time, and break a leg! :)

Re: guitar tabs

Corpernicus For the first verses, start with an octave on the D, and then do a walk down (C#, B, A), leavving your ring finger on the 7th fret of the G string. If you want to fill it out a bit, you can also play the F# on the 7th fret of the B string alongside the D on the G. Then: D F#m You called ...

$16k is probababababbaly overkill. But under $200 is definitely underkill.

Re: Documentary Film about The Long Winters

That video has seen the rounds (no pun intended) a few times. I think it's been posted here thrice in some place or another. I don't know why it was re-uploaded, but definitely a fun video. Clearly not everyone's seen it, which, in my eyes, makes it worthy of another link! To the YouTubes, boardies!

Re: Article by John in the Seattle Weekly Reverb Residency

I get that there's a reason why a lot of songs get played in the same order frequently. Maybe they use the same guitars (or worse, the same tuning!), the same pedal settings, or the songs work better in tandem than they do separately, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating for the seasoned fan....

I keep buying cheap turntables and regretting it later. So I have no advice outside of: don't do that.

I hate that Christmas With You Is The Best is the #1 played song. I personally can't stand that one.

Re: Article by John in the Seattle Weekly Reverb Residency

No offense to Nada Surf, for example, but I think on every show I"ve seen the past few years, great as they were, they've opened and closed with exactly the same songs... You know what? For the first handful of Nada Surf songs I went to, they were quite different and very enjoyable. Then they ...

Re: TLW contribute for Led Zeppelin tribute.

My copy showed up on Saturday. I haven't had a chance to listen to it all but I did listen to TLW's song. The credits list John as vocals and something called an ebow, Nabil on drums, and Eric as everything else. I was curious to see if they would indie rockify (if I may make up a word) the song bu...

All true.

Like I said, I see both sides of the argument clearly. Definitely an interesting article, regardless, that has opened up one of the more lively conversations on here in some time.

As a superfan (this is actually the first I've heard of the phrase, so I'm not offended by it -- yet) who was specifically called out in this article, I see both sides to this discussion. It's very instinctual to react defensively. "DUDE, REALLY? I work on two Long Winters websites, and half a ...
