I never thought John sounded like Adam Duritz until after someone suggested it and then I heard it, but luckily the association quickly passed.

i thought it was interesting that he didn't point out that many of his lyrics center on the rush of the possibility of a romance rather than truly sealing the deal, so it seems reasonable to me that his fans may share the same perspective...

From the descriptions, I'd estimate I was to the right and front of Kaiden...probably a little too short to be very visible but the friend I brought is tall and was likely the only white guy in the place with a 'fro...

--Boat was incredibly awesome, one of the best opening bands I've seen in a long time. --The Cops had some catchy songs, but overall I thought their set sucked. Vocals were non-existent, and there was waayyyy too much rock posturing for me to take them seriously. Hmm...I walked away with a differen...

Well, I'll let someone who's memory works more linearly post the true setlist, but they opened with Give Me a Moment (sadly, the only song from the first album) and closed with Ultimatum. Between, they played Blue Diamonds, Scared Straight, Cinnamon, Stupid, Nora, Pushover, Fire Island, Teaspoon, Hi...

Anyone else familiar with this sodapop? While other kids fought over pepsi and coke, my favorite was red!

Leigh, were did you put the nasally 'a' in pop? I've got the nasal a, but i don't think I use it in 'pop'. The nasal "a" is in place of the "o." Ugly-sounding, I know. It's pretty much the accent depicted in the old "Da Bears" sketches on SNL, but even though I grew up near Chicago, I didn't adopt ...

I have no doubt this was accurate in 2003, but I really think that the internet has changed things. Seattle is still pop territory, but I know I'm saying soda more, as are the people around me. I agree. My cohorts and I (in Seattle) definitely use "soda" more often. I know I switched over when I go...

I wonder if the citation to the Barenaked Ladies is a means to pay homage to Stephen Page's cover of "Honest?"

Also, I'm curious...has John ever encountered an INTERESTED mannequin?

Sorry to hear Iowa City is under water again... I lived there during the flood of '93, when the Coralville Dam broke and washed away a highway (although the silver lining was that the exposed bedrock was teeming with fossils). Hopefully, after the waters recede and everything returns to normal, you'...

As I went to pick up the dog from doggie daycare (that's how we roll in the Pacific NW), I reconsidered my earlier comment and wanted to add that since Stringfield actually recorded his cover, he should definitely "make it his own." I guess because I don't generally like an artist adding their own t...

I'm surprised to find that I like it. Like NatureBoy, I find Stringfield's cover the least satisfying 'cuz it seems like he's trying to "make it his own" whereas the other covers seem to just pay tribute awesome songs.
