Confession!

I haven't actually bought a TMBG album since "Flood," which I have replaced twice already (stolen) and which is currently MIA (again). So... I know they have a plethora of post-Flood albums, and I'm wondering, which would you guys suggest for an old fan looking to recapture the glory days? Accidenta...

Props to John for the detailed info. I've wanted a semi-hollow body for a long time now, as I am a sustain/feedback freak, and didn't know Fender had ever produced one... Cool. Unfortunately, I don't even have an acoustic at the moment, so the f-holes will have to wait. Can anyone recommend a cheap ...

Starcaster

I just checked out the fotos from the KEXP show and it looks like John's got a sweet new axe.

What is this "Starcaster?" Where can I get one? How much? Does it play like a Strat? Details, por favor! I want f-holes!

I've never owned a dedicated reverb pedal (my amp has reverb and I don't use it much anyway), so I'm no expert, but I have a recommendation. Why not get a DELAY pedal instead, and just use really short delays with long repeats for reverb? It's an old trick, and very effective. Plus, you get the adde...

Do your part, fight the good fight!

EMI has forced Danger Mouse to shelf the album, and may seek damages for his distribution of the first 3000 copies. Here's how to help:

Get'cher trade on!

So it appears that some of you lovely folks have digital artifacts of The Long Winters' live performances. I'm wondering if anyone would be amenable to sending me a CD or two in exchange for something of equal value that they desire. I don't have any LW shows at this point, but I do have the Western...

Good work, y'all. I'm glad to know other songwriters are cribbing from similar sources as myself. It's comforting, I guess. Brief tangent on Woody Allen: just saw a movie from '76 called "The Front," starring Woody (but neither written nor directed by him). A drama about the entertainment industry b...

I really like the treatment of 99 Problems, which retains the feel and feroicty of the original but uses Helter Skelter as its sound pallette. Nice.

Danger Mouse is performing at Coachella, which makes me wonder if the Feds will arrest him as soon he spins one of these tracks...

Eno definitely counts. Good stuff, too.

I also dig the Books. They're sort of in a category of their own, though.

Dntel, anyone?

i think the delarosa albums are pretty far removed from the prefuse stuff, but maybe my ears deceive me. as for savath, what's up with the new album? not what i expected at all... i can still remember the first electronic album i really "got." FUSE, an old Richie hawtin project. i can still hear tho...

Just give me good music.

Anyway, I'm referring to Dead Cities, Red Seas and Lost...

If you're new to the electronic sound-tones that remind you music, I'd recommend Boards of Canada's "Music Has the Right to Children" as a first step. Pretty much everyone that hears it loves it. It's (sheepish sigh) "accessible," but incredible, too. Also, "In Flames" by Manitoba. Sounds like a Che...

yeah, they just keep getting better. i was aware of this at the hollywood bowl show, even through my trance... not only were they producing all of these incredible sounds, but they were making it look effortless... which it is certainly not. their stage setup is kind of inconceivable at this point, ...

i hear the Oxygen is pretty solid... the thing to consider is the size contraint... because it's only a two-octave range or so, you'll have to do a lot of toggling to get around the keyboard (pressing the octave up/down button). This may not seem like a big deal, but it's something to think about. I...

Lyrics based on films & books?

Since the very first time I heard "Bride and Bridle" I thought of it as a Western. I was wondering if it was based on a film or book, because I've noticed lately that lyrics often sync up nicely with things I've seen and read... sometimes they even borrow directly, such as Thom Yorke's use of variou...

hrm. i got dragged to a radiohead show back when the bends had just been released. i knew 'fake plastic trees' and that was it. they completely rocked my world, and the worlds of everyone else who was in attendance that night (remember DV8 in seattle, anyone?)... three encores later, i decided i had...
