Thanks Liesbeth! We're still working on the track. The most recent thing we tried was to have Scott Plouf from Built to Spill over to retrack the drums. He took the song home to figure out a cool part. So, as you can see, we're still monkeying with stuff. Getting MUCH closer though.
XOXO

Re: Le Poisson Rouge videos
I did back ups on What is your Secret and Your Legs Grow, and came back for I fought the Law. It's alright with me if H4ck posts the new song, Connections in Nashville, as long as we keep it a secret just for the boardies. It's brand new, not finished, awkward, etc. But for you guys, anything.

Re: Tube Amps...
That's the one! I used to bridge the two channels by running a short cable from the "B" input of channel one to the "A" input of channel two. Because it wasn't ridiculously loud enough as it was.

Re: I Can't Believe I'm Asking This. (Name Question)
It isn't so annoying, exactly, and I'm speaking as a person who has certainly been asked the question fewer times than Eddie Vedder. It's just that it's a banal question, and half the time the person kind of answers for you, like "Is the Long Winters a reference to you growing up in Alaska?" The act...

Brilliant. That is exactly what most of the lyrics of our new record sound like.

Re: John Appearing in David Bowie Tribute
Yeah, although the Bowie show announced itself first, I actually said I would play the Nada Surf show before. So I'm not doing the Bowie show, which causes me great sadness. But I am doing the Nada Surf show, which causes me great joy. Joy co-mingled with sadness. For the record, they wanted me to d...

Re: HaterHigh.com
Awesome, I had no idea that those shows were recorded. Excellent work. I can verify that Liesbeth was rocking out throughout the Paradiso show. Unfortunately, that's not the show at the Paradiso where Ryan Adams jumped up on stage with us to sing "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and drunkenly u...

Re: guitar tabs
AlTHOUGH.... curious thing about this tune: the A maj chord is problematic. I wrote it and play it as A major, but if you really emphasize the "major-ness" of it by playing the C# of the chord too emphatically it sounds wrong. It sounds like it should be an A minor chord under there. But if you play...

Re: BOAT
We played with BOAT at the Showbox in July of, what, '08? Is that right? With the Cops. BOAT's drummer, Jackson, is married to Erika who works at Barsuk. Erica's brother Michael is the singer of Telekinesis. Michael has been drumming on some exploratory tracks with Matthew Caws recently. Matthew was...

Re: Music video!?!?
Wow, good work internet detective agency! All of the above is true. We recorded an acoustic version of Not Moving to Portland especially for the GIVE project, with Kathleen Edwards singing harmonies, and then filmed a music video for it. Just because your Long Winters haven't finished our record yet...

Re: Menomena?
Menomena are our friends, former tourmates, and labelmates, and Justin has me stay at his house when I'm in Portland. He brought his mom to my book event and himself wore a tie. So there's that. Sunny Day Real Estate, on the other hand, are a band Eric likes.

Re: Electric Aphorisms
The book keeps evolving as the printing continues and the new ones have a stamped image on the cover. The ones without the image are the first run and constitute a very small number. If that type of thing matters to you.

Re: "Not Moving To Portland" lyrics
The first verse I'm still working on, so maybe it won't stay that way, and a few of the words in the second and last verse are misheard, but most importantly the chorus is:
Hey, so, you play too rough
But I wimped out
And I waited to say so
You play too rough
Hey, so, you play too rough
But I wimped out
And I waited to say so
You play too rough

I also hate the word "tweet". For the record I also hated the word "dude" when it first took the world by storm, and look where that landed us.
