Re: Living Dangerously

At the time we all thought it was funny and that we were being funny. Then we watched Jeff Lin and we were destroyed. He KILLED it.

Re: The Official Live at the Showbox DVD thread

Good catch! No one noticed it was called Good Girls on the cover art until after it had gone to press. I think it was Jonathan who picked it out. Sour is correct that we often write it as "Good Girls" on our setlists, and maybe Adam took the name from there? It's funny that no one in the w...

Re: Christmas-ish interview (old)

That's a very grumpus interview. I've known the interviewer for many years, so I suppose we were just being a couple of bitchy queens.

Re: We have politics in Canada, too!

Canada is just limbering up, getting ready for the day the last remnant of the Polar ice cap finally melts and they become the most powerful nation on Earth. At which point I predict a coup by a Mobutu-style strongman.

I wonder if there's a way to make the alternating blue a teeny bit darker, to distinguish it from the white.

Re: Twitter.

The impression I'm getting from reading other people's Tweets, (for that seems to be the accepted term), is that people think about them for hours. It's the illusion of spontaneity that counts in this world. After all, no one can tell how long it's been since you logged on. I'm enjoying Twittering. ...

Re: updated message board

Maybe now we can all have icons again. Still no signatures, though, as those are super-goofus. And no smilies, either. Bleah.

Prom night is an open G tuning, GGDGBD capo'd at the second fret. Strum all the strings open, then make a chord with the "first" fret (allowing for the capo) of the B string and the "second" fret of the low D string with all other strings played open. Now barre that and move it around. You can now p...

Hipster culture IS all appropriation, which is boring, but I don't quite buy that every other 20th century youth movement was a Marxist dialectic.

It appears that most people commenting on my columns for the Weekly aren't reading them all the way through, or are just reading the highlighted portions excerpted by some other site. Another sad fact of the internet. When I wrote about the contrasts between Portland and Seattle transit it attracted...

Look, you only get a chance to play the grand reopening of Westfield at Southcenter Mall a few times in your career, and the fact that this was happening at nine AM just sealed the deal for me. I was like, wow, perfect storm. The fact that it alienates Forrest is just an added benefit. And yes, if y...

You'll notice that the author of that MySpace post is named DivaMom or something like that. Not to dis on Divas (or moms), because we count many of them among our dearest friends, but perhaps this particular one was expecting something more along the lines of a Goo Goo Dolls concert.

Jiffy makes box mixes of all kinds: muffins, cakes, pizza crusts, etc. They are inexpensive, unglamorous, and preferred by those of us who grew up in the 70's raised by single mothers and on limited budgets who don't know how to cook are impatient and like cake.

I have to say I'm quite flattered by this cover. Unlike the other covers mentioned we have no personal connection to the BNL, other than me referring to them as less fat than previous incarnations of the LW's. So it feels like a quantum shift for Mr. Page to have discovered our music and learned tha...
