Re: John to Play Three Shows This Summer at The Triple Door

this is such a shame, sounded like a very special show. Very sorry for those who traveled far, like our friend from Vancouver, and Kathleen Edwards of course. I for one sure am glad I didn't plan my trip around this, I'm not sure I would have handled my disappointment very well.

Re: John to Appear with John Hodgman 8/20/2010

John told me he was doing this so I could put it on the website, but 'somewhere in Massachusetts' didn't seem like a very clear location to me. Thanks for finding this so I didn't have to - whoever has heard of Montague MA anyway? Except the people there and Hodgman.

Love it ! It makes me want to live in the deep sea. If it wasn't so dark and cold and ...eh... deep.

Re: John to Play Three Shows This Summer at The Triple Door

from thelongwinters.com You may wonder who these special guests are who will join John Roderick at The Triple Door on Saturday. All the way from Toronto, Canada, Kathleen Edwards will make an appearance. And opening the show will be California-based singer El May. More guests may be announced the ne...

Re: John at Sorrento Hotel's Night School 8/2/10

to think I was actually in Seattle when this happened. Although I have to say that this might have been too much for me; it's good if an artist keeps some mystique. Meant to include a 'bathroom' page to the library site when I started, with links to interviews and banter mentioning his love for the ...

Re: West Coast tour

how come I didn't know that Seattle's hills are even steeper than any of the SF hills I drove on? I am in total shock! Am staying in a hotel room with fake fireplace for the night. Tomorrow back to standard motel fare. Still, it cannot be worse than the shady motel we stayed at in Reno, we spent the...

Re: West Coast tour

Jace has picked a hipster (?) place to meet, so come and join us on Tue 3 Aug at King's Hardware on Ballard Avenue Northwest (same block as the Tractor Tavern) around 8pm! Don't be shy in thinking I don't want to meet you, because I love all boardies. Except spammers, who can flog their loans and vi...

Re: John to Play Three Shows This Summer at The Triple Door

We may be bitchin' about not getting to see the band enough, but Australia is really never getting any live love, so I can imagine how exciting it is to move so close. Would love to hear your review on the show(s)

Re: West Coast tour

Yeehah, this Saturday I will be on the road. in case anyone in Seattle is curious what the hell I look like, I'm willing for once to disclose my identity - I'm totally in for drinks or some other kind of meet up. Of course, no pictures can be made public ! Looks like I will be in Seattle 3-5 August,...

Re: World Cup 2010

Well, we celebrated our 2nd place today as if we won the cup... I'm sure the rest of the world looks at us in bewildered amazement. But I think we could do with a bit of bonding in this country, after the last elections which showed just how divided we are. And the good thing was that all nationalit...

Re: World Cup 2010

as promised, here's my rough video report on yesterday's football events, didnt' really feel like prettying it up. We hung out at our fave bar a few hours before the match, and it was so much fun seeing everyone cycling or walking in whatever orange outfit they could find towards their 'watching-th...

Re: John to Play Three Shows This Summer at The Triple Door

John opened by saying these shows were supposed to be an intervention for him. He thought the threat of public humiliation about not having new material would provide an incentive for him to finish some songs he's working on. In fact he had told the Triple Door booking agent that there would be new...

Grant, will you write a song about deep sea sex? Or about experts on deep sea sex? Just imagine their birthday party conversations.

Re: John to Play Three Shows This Summer at The Triple Door

Thanks for the wonderful review, it almost makes up for not being there. That setlist, wow! I too would have thought there would be more new stuff, but maybe he had to get the old out before the new can come in? Both Samaritan and Copernicus haven't been played for ages it seems, and off the top of ...

Re: World Cup 2010

wonderful graph! for old time's sake (we lost the final in '74 to Germany) it would have been fun to have played Germany, but I was rooting for Spain. I like how they missed just about as many obvious chances as we did in our semi-final. Sunday is going to be caliente! And not just because the weath...

O H M Y G O O D N E S S , this was bad for my heart
hope the world was entertained by that late goal - I love that kind of thing if my team is not in the field

I promise I will film the orange finals craze on Sunday and post some here, whether we win or lose, it will be one hell of a special day

Re: World Cup 2010

My goodness, what a quarter final weekend this has been. Went to friends in Rotterdam to watch NL vs Brazil in a local pub, and after the first half none of us gave a dime for our chances. Things turned around amazingly, and the street party after the win was most wonderful. Then we watched the amaz...
