I'm an evil, evil man. Sincerest apologies for dropping off the face of the earth without so much as a Spring Mix tape. I am actually alive and well and living in Florida all of a sudden if anyone were wondering. Lis, I believe your mix tape actually travelled in the car with me. I haven't forgotten...

I just thought I'd throw in my $0.02. If you want to see a really great community, check out http://www.selfies.com. Granted, these are not fan-contributed recordings, but band recordings. However they're being made freely available by MP3 makes it so that in a matter of under an hour, I can have a ...

Not meaning to complain, but it would have been more convenient to have had two months each between Easter, Ascension Day and Pentecoast. Mmm, I just found out that Pentecost is a jewish thing, I actually meant Whitsuntide. I think. Here's where my knowledge of English comes to a grinding halt. I s...

When I was little I thought that the lyrics to Without You were "I can't forget the seemin' on your face as you were leaving". I also could not understand why my older brother found this uproarious.

Sidewalk Bag of Towels

Just wondering what some of the more hilarious mis-interpretations of lyrics people have had. For a while I thought the chorus of Legionaire (The Decmeberists) said "sidewalk bag of towels" as opposed to "sidewalk bagatelles". Which is odd, because in general I find Colin Meloy enunciates very well ...

KV has always been on my top 10 list of people I'd like to someday meet. Isaac Asimov was another, but I guess that opportunity has passed.

I like how he has these worlds and each book is about a different character. A major character in one book is a minor character in another book. How cool is that?

I read Tricky Business by Dave Barry (he's starting to sound a lot like Carl Hiassen(?). That's probably intentional; he and Hiaasen are close friends. For Barry's birthday one year, Hiaasen gave him an egg with instructions about its preferred incubation temperature. And refused to tell him what w...

Re: Marketplace

Has anyone noticed that NPR's "Marketplace" plays amazing music samples? This week I've heard Death Cab, Lucinda Williams, and they LOVE Rilo Kiley. Check it out: http://marketplace.publicradio.org/music/index.html Strikes me as odd for market updates and econ talk, but I'm not complaining, that's ...

Also, I just bought "Songbook" by Nick Hornby--- anyone read it? How about the new David Sedaris? There's a new Nick Hornby? I was just in Barnes & Noble looking the other day. Bummer, I would have grabbed it had I seen it. I was introduced to Nick Hornby by a college creative writing instructor wh...
