Old Rare T-shirt & Trivia Contest

I'm moving soon, and that means I've been cleaning out my closet lately. In there I found a rare shirt. It's from a benefit show for the University of Washington's Comparative History of Ideas department - John's old stomping grounds - and the lineup at the (old) Croc that night was TLW, Poseur, and...

You know who has a neato Traynor amp as part of their backline?

Sasquatch 2010

The Long Winters are returning to Sasquatch this year! They played the main stage three years ago, in place of M.I.A.

Strong lineup this year.

Re: Two more shows with BG and JF.

A nice show last night at the Showbox in front of a sold out, yet surprisingly quiet and respectful crowd there.

John opened with Shapes, and then later played Mimi (dedicated to Laura), before closing with New Girl. New Girl's rave up at the very end was so hardcore that he broke two strings.

Re: John Appearing in David Bowie Tribute

I saw their performance of The Arcade Fire's "Funeral" album all the way through, and it was great.

As for John's Bowie song...

What I hope it will be: Young Americans

What I think it will be: Queen Bitch

(I have no inside knowledge of his selection)

Re: list of covers: help appreciated

Nada Surf is releasing an album of covers, so it's cool now, right John? http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2010/01/nada_surf_relea.html It was nice to hear them on KEXP this morning - their appearance included a spin of their version of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence". I really like...

According to the Showbox site, John will be opening the Seattle show.

Pollstar says it's The Long Winters that are opening.

Re: Electric Aphorisms

Sometimes this is cultural. In high school I went to a movie with an exchange student from Germany, and she proceeded to talk throughout the previews, which was fine except for the volume, but once the movie started she kept going. People around us were getting restless, so I had to interrupt her to...

Re: Kerouac Tribute Tour

It was proven again that John plays hurt really well - you'd never know he was battling sickness by listening to him, at least at the El Rey show. His voice was strong and his pitch true. It sounded like the first few notes of Shapes got played at some point, but that song was quickly scrapped with ...

I think his hair was long enough for a Locks of Love donation.

Or to fill a standard-sized throw pillow.

(sound) magazine 9:53pm The Long Winters Broad Street Stage ...Most striking was the songs structure, built entirely around a clean, bright and repetitive guitar line from Corson that never once deviated from its set path. Someone, it seems, as been playing with a looping peddle while writing his s...

More John with HD, this time on national TV even! A generous soul from the HD board uploaded this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLcsGh_VUwc Aw look at the shockingly organized hair. And Sean's chops! Wild. The story behind this performance is great, and is part of the documentary. Whenever that g...
