Re: Electric Aphorisms

In his defense, he did apologize to John afterwards (with his empty martini glass held at a somewhat precarious angle). He seemed to have a fairly loud speaking voice so maybe he didn't realize how loud he was? It's strange but he seemed to be by himself when I saw him earlier. I don't know if he wa...

Re: Electric Aphorisms

The reading last night was fun. John did an acoustic version of Ultimatum, read some excerpts from his book (which he had his mom choose for him), then sang an acoustic version of Pushover by request from someone in the audience. The group discussion at the end of the reading was interesting but har...

Re: Long Winters Track on Charity Compilation Nov. 17

I had a chance to talk to John at the reading last night and asked about this. He said the songs are actually going to be released in stages. The Long Winters song won't be in the first batch but it will be a new song that he's still working on.

Re: Electric Aphorisms

I just talked to the Sorrento Hotel and it appears you need to RSVP for the reading on Nov. 12. They also recommend showing up a little early because they're expecting a crowd.

Re: Electric Aphorisms

A tweet from John Hodgman today seems to confirm that John's book will be a book of tweets. Hodgman apparently wrote the introduction. (Slightly OT but am I the only one who dislikes twitter terms such as tweet?)

Re: Electric Aphorisms

I'm glad someone found some more information about this. ( I had posted something under Swoon but I hadn't found any confirmation.) I thought perhaps John was just going to host but he's written a book - even better!

John Giving a Reading on Nov. 12?

I saw this on Matt Briggs blog: On November 12, I will be reading in Seattle with Matthew Stadler, Bruce Benderson, and John Roderick. The occasional will be the release of new books, including Shoot the Buffalo and Benderson’s great novel about the moirés and manners of North Pacific America, Pacif...

Re: Seattle Mayoral Debate at Reverbfest

The Seatle Weekly has the audio of the debate available : http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/reverb/2 ... n_mike.php .
Also here's a blurry cell phone picture. The quality's not good but you can kind of get a sense of John's fancy suit : http://www.flickr.com/photos/reallowvibe/3978385035/

edited to add : I found some news footage about the debate : http://www.nwcn.com/video/index.html?nvid=404435 .

Seattle Mayoral Debate at Reverbfest

If anyone was planning to head out to Reverbfest this Saturday, John will be one of the moderators at the mayoral debate - m . I'm still not entirely sure why a music festival is having a mayoral debate but it could be fun if no one takes it too seriously. edited to add: This was a lot of fun tonigh...

Kerouac Tribute Tour

I didn't see this posted but it seems that John has joined the mini tour Ben Gibbard and Jay Farrar are doing to support their Kerouac tribute album - m . Unfortunately this isn't coming to Seattle. It looks like John must have back to back shows in New York - 10/28 with the tribute tour and 10/29 w...

Has there been any word on who will be the drummer this weekend at Musicfest NW? John had said they might have chosen a permanent replacement by this show.

Re: John Wesley Harding’s Cabinet of Wonders

I went to this when it came to Seattle in April and it was an enormous amount of fun. John didn't sing at the one I went to, but he did read an excerpt from the journal he kept during his walk across Europe. JWH is coming back to Seattle in October but I believe that's just a regular concert at the ...

Songs for Eating and Drinking

John took part in a recent Songs for Eating and Drinking : http://blog.chasejarvis.com/blog/2009/0 ... nking.html . A bunch of musicians gather for an evening of food and music. Unfortunately there isn't any video of John but there's a pretty cool photo. There's some nice videos of a few of the other attendees. It sounds like an amazing night.
