Epsiode 6 is up - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aElekAKuQ_w . More insights regarding John's eating habits. Also more danger for John. I'm getting nervous for his safety.

Re: Long Winters at Doe Bay Festival Aug. 15, 2009

Zach - Doe Bay Resort is running a shuttle from the ferry terminal so I wouldn't have to worry about getting to the festival once I got to Orcas Island. Unfortunately the Navy has commandeered one of the Victoria Clipper's ships this summer so they aren't going to the San Juans this summer. (OK, com...

Re: Thirteen Songs

Between the hatchet and the hammock I'm beginning to worry for John's safety. Someone needs to child-proof his house - at least until he's done with the new album.

Re: Long Winters at Doe Bay Festival Aug. 15, 2009

I agree the lineup is about perfect. It's just a little too far for me to drive by myself and there doesn't seem to be a way to get there without driving. Also I'm not really a "three days in a tent sounds like fun" kind of person. If it was a little easier to get there I might have been w...

Long Winters at Doe Bay Festival Aug. 15, 2009

I didn't see this posted yet but the Long Winters will be at this year's Doe Bay Festival on Orcas Island: http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/reverb/2009/06/complete_doe_bay_music_festiva.php There's some great bands playing but I'm just not the camping type. I think I'll have to settle for seeing them ...

Re: Twitter.

According to his Twitter account John got hit on the head with a hatchet. He says he's OK but it sounds pretty scary to me. The picture of the hatchet looks particularly menacing.

Re: John at Dow Constantine Fundraiser 4/23/2009

John figured out how to be in two places at once (either that or his cloning experiment was a success). He managed to make it to the YLNT show to play a little banjo during one of their skits. I don't know how he kept a straight face because Merlin pretending to be a Civil War era Southern belle was...

Re: The incredible Alaskan, 6 Nov, Seattle

A portion of this show is going to be on the Seattle Channel tonight at 11. It's also available at http://www.seattlechannel.org/videos/video.asp?ID=21. I took a quick look and unfortunately I don't think they show the portion with John and Sean. Maybe there'll be a Part 2 some day? It's still prett...

John at EMP Pop Conference

John is going to be on one of the panels at this year's Pop Conference at EMP. He's scheduled for Saturday, 4/18, at 3:15. The topic of the round table is "Reconsidering the Groupie". I'm guessing this has something to do with his column in the Seattle Weekly last year. Sean Nelson is also...

Re: How to be a musician when you're not that good of a musician

I had hoped someone else would review this because I didn't take any notes and there was quite a bit of discussion. Here's a few random things I remember: John talked a lot about he deliberately tries to make his songs not be conventional, like adding a pre-chorus before the chorus that you weren't ...

Re: John and Eric at the Tractor Tavern Dec. 13

It was a lot of fun on Saturday. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't recognize many of the bands (and most didn't introduce themselves) so I've been hoping someone would do a write up on the show. It was worth battling the snow.

The Three Imaginary Girl's Holiday Party is going to be 12/27. I'm looking forward to seeing John as Indie Rock Santa in person. The photos from previous years look hilarious.

John Hodgman had been referring to Jonathan as a feral mountainman. When Jonathan explained that he wasn't a mountainman Hodgeman introduced his backup feral mountainman, John Roderick. John did an acoustic cover of Neil Diamond's Solitary Man and an acoustic version of Prom Night at Hater High (wit...

The show is sold out so hopefully everyone managed to get a ticket. I didn't really think it would sell out but now I'm glad I pre-ordered mine.
