I've seen the Long Winters play two versions of Mimi: the slow version (as heard on The Worst You Can Do Is Harm), and a fast version (not available in studio format, as far as I know, but a live version is available in MP3 format here.)

When they played at the Seattle Art Museum earlier this year, John took a poll of the audience to see which version of Mimi they should finish the gig with, and Fast Mimi won out.

I like both versions; I prefer the slow version when it's just John & Sean playing, but when the full band is present, Fast Mimi is just so POWERFUL.

From where can more live tracks/concerts be downloaded?

Are LW friendly with the taping and trading of shows? I don't want to open up a can of worms...

You're right, that's a damn good version of Mimi.

I'm going to have to do something that I've been putting off for a long time: tracking down some Western State Hurricanes stuff. Where can I find the other songs? I take it that stuff is no longer in print?

I can't choose. The first time I heard slow Mimi I was almost in tears. I would have cried if it wasn't for the fact I would have felt ridiculous at the club bawling. The first time I heard fast Mimi I was completely blown away. I thought it was one of the best things I had ever heard them play.

A while back a friend found that WSH show and put it on a CD for me. It made my day. Especially since it was an unexpected gift.

This was one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made. Though (slow) Mimi was one of my favorite songs off of TWYCDIH, I went with (fast) Mimi, because it sounds better live, and The LW live show is amazing beyond words.

i asked john once if i could tape their show in an email and this was his reply:

"You can record it, you just have to make me a copy. Them's the rules."

So happy taping. Incidentally i did record the croc show but i forgot to set the rec volume and the recording was crappy. What a show though!
