the band smoothie and new dates
thelongwinters.com now has the new and improved bio info on the band, with interesting new factoids about current and old band members (quick guess before you read it: who is the band's smoothie?)
and the tour page announces some new gigs: an instore in Birmingham AL that was two days ago, the San Francisco gig with the Fiery Furnaces on 1 October which had been mentioned here somewhere before, AND a radio performance on Cincinatti's WOXY radio station, on Friday 23 September at 10.30 pm EDT.
Sorry Heather, nothing about Norman OK on there yet.
The good news is that WOXY.com has live webcast. The bad news is, it doesn't seem to have an archive thingie, so I guess that means I should be awake at 4.30 am to hear it (if I'm not making a mistake in the time zone calculations).

fxxx fxxx fxxx, I mixed up my AM with my PM, and I so could have listened to this! Why doesn't the whole world go by the 24:00 hour system, eh?
Please tell me that someone recorded this, or very gently break it to me what I missed.
ps I just realised that I wouldn't really wanted to have missed what I was doing at 4pm, so...

okay, I now have sussed what they played (sounds good): WOXY playlist
mentions Shapes, Cinnamon, Ultimatum and The Commander
what's this Lounge Act thing, do they make you play their themesong or something?

the adventure ended with one click on the buy button: it leads to links to several online music stores, with the disclaimer that not everything they play is available, which would be very true for an in-studio live performance...zach wrote:It looks like you can buy those tracks?!?
Does anybody want to be the adventurous one to try it first?

so a new adventure arrives: somehow Barsuk lists an on-air performance for KDHX today at 4pm local time, which is in less that an hour. I'm highly doubtful that this is actually true, because it isn't mentioned on any other concert list and because the program schedule for 4pm mentions a eastern European folk show, but I'm staying tuned anyway...

Interview and music from the WOXY appearance are up in their Lounge Acts podcast: http://woxy.com/podcast_loungeacts.xml. You can download the MP3 here: http://xalt.vo.llnwd.net/o2/loungeact/t ... 050923.mp3
It's a nice acoustic set.
