The St. Louis gig...

Postby Jessie » Tue Sep 27, 2005 1:26 pm

I first saw The Long Winters when they opened for Keane at the Pageant in St. Louis, Missouri (September 25th). They frickin rocked!!! They were absolutely lovely as could be, and really got the crowd pumped!

Just thought I'd share my first experience with everyone ;-) If anyone else was there at the show let me know what you thought too!

Glad you liked them. It seems they are regularly converting you Keane-heads :)

Hahahhahahaaaa!

Yeah, but even Keane couldn't convert most of us to Regina Spektor fans!
Although, she DID have really cute shoes...

Regina's got way more cute in her than some shoes.

She just reminds me of a cross between Bjork and Tori Amos.. and I'm so over that.

Sorry.

I just don't like her music that much. She seemed very nice, though.. In fact, I made all my friends cheer for her that she did an encore. Front row is always the best! ;D

Agreed. She's also a brilliant musician. Soviet Kitsch is a great album, I reccomend that everyone check it out.

And I agree, the Long Winters were great. I really like them and hope to pick up some of the albums in the near future. I hope no one is offended by this reference, but I think the Long Winters are a cross between REM and The Barenaked Ladies. There is a quirkyness about them but I love their music.

I think that's a valid observation.
I thought TLW were kinda like The Zutons ONLY b/c it took me awhile to get used to John's voice. Like Dave McCabe, I was unsure at first, but the more I listened to him the more I appreciated his voice and once I saw them live, I was hooked! Please note that I know The Zutons and TLW are NOTHING alike!

But I do hear a resemblance between John and Michael Stipe's voices. And anyway, my friend thought the same thing!!!!

I did think REM at first listen, so I agree with that observation. :) I've always been a Barenaked Ladies fan, but the thing is their lyrics are quirky, but not as quirky as John's. Sometimes I wonder if he's getting enough sleep...

Jeannette, The Zutons ROCK OUT LOUD! They also have that quirky thing going on. Maybe that's it? Quirky bands think alike? I love saying "quirky"...

Yes, The Zutons are so awesome!

I could wax poetical on how much I love Dave McCabe, but I don't have that kind of time, nor do you! ;D

I got to listen to Emily do that all the way from Atlanta to Nashville. :P And I enjoyed every second of it!

The Long Winters Myspace page now says: "New! Improved! Fatter than the Barenaked Ladies!"
