...and Merlin for that matter. Just because he runs this outfit shouldn't mean he's above contributing in a way that doesn't include chain smoking cigars and wolfing down dim-sum with our boys.

What's the word, boss?

Dee-lightful. I think the new lineup really works.

If that version of Medicine Cabinet Pirate is any indication of what's coming on the reported "rock record," I'll be a happy fellow.

A few pics to click around here. John bought a very handsome cape.

(Sorry so short...planning a party that will change the interweb forever...). Will try to write more soon.

Apologies, folks. I went from work on Saturday straight to the show and then back to work. (Taking a brief time-out for Dolly Parton in GG Park: GENIUS!)

You know, I'm not a setlist-y person, preferring instead to sway back and forth with a doubles glass held to my forehead.

I stand out a bit, sure.

First up: sold out show. Translation: plenty of previously uninitiated parties getting rocked. And rocked thoroughly. This in spite of sound check that got off to a late start, thanks in no small part to a burlesque show (no comment) and some underage Swedish girls in evening gowns. (Comment all you'd like.)

In many ways, it's one of the best shows I've seen. Eric has stepped to the forefront of this whole deal, and was really a force to behold. Mike and Nabil are no slouches either. The harmonies, were awesome. And Merlin has just jogged my memory - it's Medicine Cabinet Pirate that really blew me away as well. It almost felt like a new song. Word to John on that one.

Also: I'm a nosy little cephalopod. As I stood round, pretending to study my Makers and Soda, I was thrilled with the favorable commentary that I heard before, during, and after their set. Particularly the neophytes who were motivated to buy some merch.

In short, extremely encouraging news for the Commander of Katz Delicatessen. Roll on 2006!

Here's the setlist for those who are interested:

Stupid

Blue Diamonds
Medicine Cabinet
Commander Thinks Aloud

The band sounded great!

Any other good pics from the show?

okay now that's impressive, either you were taking very very subtle notes or your memory kicks my memory's ass. (Probably the latter.)

and nice to meet you!

the idea of someone taking notes reminds me of the scene in high fidelity ... taking notes in the theatre with a lighted pen

i was at a show where someone did that actually - now that i think about it ... tragically hip ... makes sense if ya think about it

ah, now we're talking. I would love to hear more about Dolly, but perhaps this isn't quite the forum for it.

great glasses, cool shirt, but the cape? not quite sure about that.
oh, and I had meant to say this earlier, but anyway: love the drumkit!

I'll trade you a Makers'n'soda for that red button that has miraculously appeared mere days after I purchased the other set.

I just can't keep up with you people.

EDIT: Liesbeth, if you wanna hear about Dolly, I'll oblige over in Cattylandia...

I'll have photos to post later, maybe over the weekend. The lights in that club are mostly reds, so I've got some wacky colors to work against. But here's a grainy preview, taken during the one time when Roderick pulled off his shades. I like the smile.
