ah, that explains it. I thought this was a manually composed top 1000...

My list isn't pulled from iTunes, it is "manually composed" by me. I usually edit the list about twice a month. I can type well over 100 wpm, so it really doesn't take me that long if I'm in a groove. Don't tell me it's a bigger waste of time than video games....

I'm not saying it's a waste of time, I'm a lists-person myself, but usually I don't go further than Top 10's. I just don't know how you can decide that, say, #857 is better than #858. So how do you rank?

Yeah, I absolutely LOVE making lists, but I can't imagine going past 100... never mind 1000! I like making lots of top 10 lists (and even top 20 lists when I see it to be suitable... or I can't make up my mind.) Do your lists change very often from two-week period to two-week period?

I mean that as a joke, of course.

Well, when I first started making lists they were only top 100; then it was 250, 500, 750, and eventually I bumped it up to 1000. I have probably been doing this for about 8 years now, and my musical tastes and collection have grown so greatly over that time that I really had no choice but to make the lists bigger--as to not exculde worthy tracks.

As far as their week-to-week/month-to-month changes, it really depends on what CDs were released or what CDs or songs I listened to a lot during that time. For instance, when the new Harvey Danger CD came out a bunch of its songs made huge jumps. The same thing goes for the Ultimatum EP; now "Ultimatum" (the song) is at #884, but a month from now it will be in the top 500, I'm sure. It takes time for them to find their place on the list. On the other hand, if I don't feel there'll be enough movement on a new list, I may not make one for a couple of months.

And what makes #857 better than #858 really is the byproduct of doing this for so long. I make my lists to allow for the songs I want to move up, to move up. A lot of songs stay the same or only move up or down a couple spots, depending on what the rest are doing. Their day may come, but at least they have a steady place on the list. (The song's rank from the previous list I put in parenthesis on the new list.)

I'm not on my computer right now, but when I am sometime this week I'll post the entire list.

That list idea is actually pretty cool.... If I could type that fast and had time I'd attempt it.

As for my fave TLW song...

"Medicine Cabinet Pirate"
"Scared Staright"
"Carparts"
"Scent of Lime"

I really can't pick just one.

Agreed. And when life gives us bananas, we make banana bread.

I've always liked 'unsalted butter' a lot. It's kind of... perfectly imperfect. Tough attitude and a certain dose of self-pityness but with a witty and imaginative turn at some point... totally refreshing... and my English doesn't work when I get lyrical!! whatever.

Butter-related lyrics:
-A Tribe Called West "Butter"
'Cause I got the crazy game and yo, I'm smooth like butter'
-Scott Walker's "Where is the Girl?"
'Where's the girl who used to fix me my coffee and butter up my toast'
(she is working on her university degree, you bastard)

Okay, acording to iTunes here's... I'll do 5, plus their ranking in my "Top 1000":

Copernicus (1)
Give Me A Moment (17)
Blue Diamonds (45)
Medicine Cabinet Pirate (64)
Carparts (110)

Although, now that I'm thinking about it, I've been listening to the physical CD's a lot lately, and not so much on my computer. I think realistically it pans out this way:

Carparts
Copernicus
Cinnamon
Give Me A Moment
Ultimatum/The Comander Thinks Aloud

I like salted butter, as long as it's Land O'Lakes.

Umm... wait... what?

I went to a corn maze once... standard fare... people jumping at you and whatnot.

Then our group rounded a bend and saw a guy dressed in black trying to blend into a corner... so we naturally kept our eyes on him thinking... "OK buddy, do your worst"

That's when we suddenly hear a chainsaw start up about 5 feet behind us and a hockey masked dude comes flying outta the cornstalks.

Please tell me that you viewed this as your big opportunity to use both your wrestling skills plus some sort of mace you keep hidden under your trenchcoat for moments such as these.

Note: De-socketed eyes always a plus!
