It's a tough question for me, but it seems to be a right of passage for everything new...

I voted Seven. *EMO ALERT* Right now it's just so perfectly fits how I'm feeling/thinking.
*END EMO*

Rich Wife and Departure definitely round out top three for me. The favorite changes pretty much depending on time of day and my mood.

Well...I don't mean to brag, but I've been listening to this album a lot longer than any of you, and 'Honest' has worked out to be my favorite.

if you can't tell I am being sarcastic, then God help you, cause I've only been into this band since I got the album.

Two days ago, I would have said "Rich Wife," but with personal events that occurred on July 25 coinciding so well with the moment I sat on my living room floor with the lyrics sheet and my CD player, "Hindsight" seems to have written for me, for that exact moment, and I am now in love with it.

It's like I said elsewhere:

I wrote:I was just saying that these two things:

'It's all right to be a singer'

'But don't you love a singer, whatever you do'

don't fit together. If it's so universally bad to love a singer, then presumably every mom tells her kids the same, and no one will ever love you if you're a singer (unless they're daft or a mutant or something). But honest, it's all right to be a singer...as long as you don't mind being someone no one should love. Yay, paradox.

That said, he's probably right.

I [heart] Honest. At this weird crossroads where I'm realizing that I have to make music, no matter the consequences, this really hits home. Especially considering my dad's a musician and my mom has spent my whole life trying to keep me from either becoming or associating with musicians for that very reason.

In other words, tru dat.

I voted Seven, too, icepants. I'm not 100% sure it's my favourite track, but it's neck and neck with the competition and doesn't get enough love.

upon further (see: relentless) listening, I think I'd have to move my vote to Clouds...

hindsight...because you can't miss there until you've left it behind and honest...because it exhales integrity (;-D)

well, three other people voted for "the sky is open" and i couldn't agree more.

i may not end up being my absolute favorite, but a day or two after buying the album last week it certainly was.

Even after repeated listens, Ultimatum still gets me singing EVERYTIME, and it hooked a new listener in 30 seconds. Therefore, right now, favorite song.

but i must admit, i really like the ultimatum EP (slower) version of that song better than the PTDTB version... lyrically (to me) it's a slow song..singing it fast with a different beat in the background doesn't make it an upbeat pop song

before the album came out, when only Pushover was out there to be heard, I wouldn't have believed that there would be a whole bunch of songs EVEN better than Pushover. Just goes to show how good the album is.

looks like an x in the sky...

Postby bijou » Thu Aug 17, 2006 4:49 pm

the ground is so proud just to hold us up from clouds

i love it when music inspires other creative media...when i saw the x in the sky as i was driving 520, i was listening to clouds and the image said so much to me i had to take the picture, even while driving. i saw the x as the name of the writer, the pilot writing it...and how it related to his audience...the loved one reading it from the ground. i wondered how the x looked from his perspective and how he would know if it was the right execution...skywriting...what a cool thing...being terrified of heights leads to a healthy respect for those who are stronger than this statistically irrational fear.... anyway, this is why you take a picture of an plane's contrail x shape and call it art.

I don't think the lack of Pushover love is due to it being a bad song so much as it is a testament to how great the album is as a whole. I'm betting Pushover would be a lot higher in the voting if it wasn't the first song everyone heard...and has continued to hear over and over in all streams, leaks, videos, radio shows, etc. All the other songs still have a unique freshness to them...I bet this poll goes differently is opened again in three months.
