Fall 2006 setlists

Postby Liesbeth » Mon Sep 11, 2006 12:57 am

Isn't it always a good idea to look ahead? Well, for the sake of future research purposes, it is important to gather data now.
Which is what the Long Winters Library & Archive aims to do: file as much setlist info as possible in its Performing Arts section, then one day build a Long Winters Set-o-Matic (purpose as yet unknown).

So with eons of touring ahead, and hopefully many people stopping by to share their experiences, I will use my sticky abilities for this reminder that any setlist info is appreciated.

Do you only remember some of the songs played or forgot the exact order? No problem, any information is appreciated, and who knows, someone else might be able to add to the info.

Hi Eameschair! Thank you for doing so, and welcome to the board (although it appears you've been lurking a while).

New Orleans 9/20/2006

New Orleans 9/20/2006
One Eyed Jacks (French Qtr.)

Very very small crowd; very intimate (a prize goes to the person who can guess the exact number). Those of us diehards were very excited to see The Guys live-- as such there were many many requests and most were honored (No "Blanket Hog").

The setlist was SUPPOSED to be:

Seven
Rich Wife
Scared Straight
Cinnamon
Honest
Delicate Hands
Teaspoon
It's a Departure

The setlist was:
Bride & Bridle (John & Eric stripped down) (request)
Seven
Rich Wife
Scared Straight
Cinnamon (I have video of this but it looks a bit myopic at times)
Honest (request)
Delicate Hands
Commander Thinks Aloud (my request)
(Then a Blues Jam of sorts fitting for NOLA)
Stupid (request)
Teaspoon
New Girl (request)

Here's a photo. Shout if you want the video.

Cheers for the person requesting Blanket Hog, even if it didn't happen. Nice set!

Wow. No Pushover or Fire Island, AK? That's a little wacky.

They might have been playing them a lot in the last few days. It might have been refreshing for them not to play....?

They played a bit of Blanket Hog at the Sugar Hill thing in Houston, but didn't make it into the edit. Listen Friday 9/29 at 2PM CST!

Great show. Props to Dianna to being excellent company front center stage. Here are the songs I can remember. Definently not all in order. Pretty much all requests from the crowd, which warmed my heart.

Clouds
Seven
Honest
Fire Island AK
Pushover
Rich Wife
Teaspoon
Scared Straight
Hindsight
Cinnamon
New Girl
Blue Diamonds
The Commander Thinks Aloud
Unsalted Butter
The Sound of Coming Down (my request!)
Carparts (dianna's request!)
(It's a) Departure
Bride and Bridle
Mimi

19 songs! I think I got them all. I'm still riding off of the high, y'all.

:O

You mean there's actually a chance I'll get to hear Mimi? And more than ten songs? You have no idea how stoked I am right now about October 4th.

Nabil said they've been playing hour and a half sets every night. I think last night's was a little over that, even.

That makes me really happy. I have seen them four times, three times headlining, and once in that infamous Toronto show where Sean blogged about how shitty a crowd we were. Heh.

You just got to make them feel like you want more, man. Even if you're the only one. Dance your ass off. And the girl that requested Mimi had to push pretty hard for it, with several between song reminders. Make your voice heard, and stuff.

The problem is, I'm always taping. So I can't really move too much or yell at all. Either I'm mic'ed, or I'm behind a video camera.

I'd say you have two options:

a) You need a lackey/assistant to yell out requests for you
b) You need a REALLY BIG SIGN

So long as you don't stop taping :)

I brought a Mimi sign to that last show as a lark (who brings a sign to an indie rock show?), humourously enough. But I was a bit off to the side, and I don't think anyone saw it. But I asked John to play Nora before the show, and he obliged, and it was freakin' amazing. So I didn't go home the least bit disappointed.

This isn't in order.. the whole show was basically requests.. And it rocked! They were also fucking around a lot during the second half of the show and we got little bits of pieces of 80's metal ;o)

Seven
It's a Departure
Ultimatum (rock show version)
The Commander Thinks Aloud
Prom Night at Hater High
Blue Diamonds
Shapes
Cinnamon
Rich Wife
Nora
Honest
Hindsight
Pushover
Fire Island
Delicate Hands
Carparts
Scared Straight

There was definitely a couple more, i just can't remember which.
