Hurrah and hooray, looks like I might actually be able to make one of these shows. Everyone pray for me. Pray HARD.

§%$& Puschen.
Okay it's not their fault there are no D/A dates announced yet, but I'm itching to blame this on someone.

In Zagreb @ Pauk there'll be 3 bands that night... British Sea Power, The Long Winters and ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead. Can't wait... I started listening to the other two bands because of that.. :D

Hello is "Zdravo" I guess, but it is rarely used, hi is "bok" (it can be used for "bye" also) - and it's used frequently.

Pronounciation is different from English of course, but it is simple, each letter is always read the same way (for example, in English e is read in different ways: in red and evening; in Croatian e is always read the same way),

Letter "a" is pronounced as a in after, "e" as e in red, "i" as first e in evening, "o" as o in offend, "u" as oo in boom.

Good afternoon - Dobar dan
Good evening - Dobra večer [č is pronounced as ch in check]
Good bye - Doviđenja [đ as j in just]
Coffee - kava
One ticket - jednu kartu
please - molim vas

People in Croatia usually speak English well, especially young people, and they will probably help you if you ask them.

I sure think the band can use these during the show. And knowing John, he might find use for every other thing mentioned as well. Yay for new Croatian board members!
Edit: I mean: Bok Finalni!!

at least you have the timeframe now. switzerland on feb 28th and denmark on march 5th, that leaves about 3-4 shows in germany/austria, i'd guess. unless they take a detour through the east, which wouldn't make much sense geographically.

puschen are very nice people, btw ;-)

ahem:

that would qualify as detour through the east, I suppose...

feel free to use some Dutch ones if you need!
joepie, hoera or joechei (slightly oldfashioned, but one of my more favourite Dutch words)

in the meantime I will sing "hij... gaat.... naar... Birmingham, hij gaat naar Birmingham, hij gaat naar Birmingham, hij gaat naar Birmingham" (Dutch football song, usually used for places where a championship is held, but it seems appropriate. Well, it seemed, anyway, before I wrote it down.)

Heh. Nice.

And apparently one of my Harvey Danger Board compatriots is also attending the Birmingham gig. ROCK.

damnit, i need to see all dates in one place. why can't they announce all the dates at once at a lavish press conference in new york? if the stones can do it....

so basically there's space for about 3 dates total in germany AND austria? that's pretty disappointing. might have to consider den bosch, then.

well, seeing how possibly they fly to and from Amsterdam or Brussels, and they would have to drive back from Aarhus to there, and possibly they don't have to be back in the USA before the 10th (no US shows known other than the SF show) and seeing how with the time difference, they can leave at say 3 pm on the 10th and still make it to that show in time (screw jetlag and delays), that leaves 4 more days for German shows, right?
I'm the master of wild speculation!!!

Den Bosch is the home of Bossche Bollen, soo good.

01.03.2007 Innsbruck (A), TBA
02.03.2007 Zagreb (HR), Pauk (w/ Trail Of Dead)
03.03.2007 Graz (A), Veilchen
04.03.2007 Leipzig (D), Früh Auf!

Veilchen?? Anyway, I hope it's going to be the Weekender Club in Innsbruck.

unless you specialize in hangover-breakfasts perhaps

regarding the poster, they renamed Bilbao after a hobbit? That's nice.

I was wondering why the train ride from Innsbruck to Zagreb is so ungodly long--guess I just left border controls out of the equation. Look like I'll have to pass on that show.
