"In The Land Of Women"-"New Girl"

Post by Harvey Winters »

I'm at work, and my 11yr old son calls me on my cell:

"DAAAAAAAAAAAAD!!!!!
TheLongWintersplayedNewGirlinamovie!!!
I tivo'd it, call me back"!!!

I just got home and there it is...
Meg Ryan, Olympia Dukakis, and a cast of others in a new movie,
that debuts 4/20/2008...
(1 day before HD's anniv)
It plays the beginning of the song, and you can hear John and Sean...

Way to keep the fans out of the loop... ;)

Assuming this isn't some belated April Fool's joke, it's not New Girl. It sounds New Girl-esque, but alas, it is not.

EDIT: The song in the trailer is in a different key and has different timing than New Girl...assuming they wouldn't re-record an instrumental version of the intro for this movie/trailer.

Not trying to be petty, just striving for accuracy. Also, I have WAYYY too much free time on my hands.

I watched the trailer at http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/inthelandofwomen/ and there doesn't appear to be anything remotely resembling "New Girl," but maybe it's in one that I haven't seen (or not in a trailer at all?) If so, how did your son hear it, HW?

Soundtrack, alas

Post by wonderbex »

Alas, the L Dubs aren't on the soundtrack, but label-mates Mates of State are! And a little Stephen Trask (Hedwig et al.) never hurt anyone.

JEEEEEEEEEZ!!!

Who dare question my ears??? :)
Also, I said my son tivo'd it...I've still got it...
Wanna call me to hear what I'm hearing???
Please PM me...

Vh1-Jump Start
Mon, 4/2 at about 9am...

"There's a party tonight come with me"...
(Intro to "New Girl" plays, as guy takes shower)

Little Girl: Carter, will you marry me?
Carter: Yes

And very distinctly you can hear
"AMERICAN SCHOOLS CALLED YOU STARLIGHT IN 14 POINT TYPE"

Title/credit screen, and end...

After all these years, that's something I wouldn't miss...

Not questioning you! (Just looking for more info.) So this movie that is just coming out was playing on TV, though? I'm terribly confused.

No offense taken...
It was a movie trailer/commercial for a new movie,
"In The Land Of Women"
It comes out 4/20...
I don't know if the song will be IN the movie...
(i.e.-Scooby Doo 2/Flagploe Sitta)

My son's 11, and a "Bad-ass super fan", like me, and left me a manic voicemail...

It's not on the trailer. It's on the 30-second TV spot.

Ok, so I'm not hallucinating...
I just didn't know there was a difference between a trailer, and a TV spot...

Trailers are two minute previews you see in theatres. TV spots are the 30-second commercials.

I haven't been able to see the commerical yet, but I watched the trailer and "Inside of Love" by Nada Surf is in the background in parts.
