Like 'Sessions on West 54th', Beautiful Noise aims to be the music series people will be collecting years from now. The Long Winters will be taping an episode on May 3rd.
Produced for RAVE HD in the US, this is a Canadian production shot at Toronto's Berkeley Church in front of a live studio audience featuring some of today's leading musical acts.
The show’s producers have about 200 free tickets to this performance.
The Berkeley Church, 315 Queen Street East
(One block west of Parliament at the corner of Berkeley and Queen.)
Doors open at 7:30 pm and seats are first-come, first-served. Beer and water will be for sale at the bar.
For tickets, send an email with your name to audience100 [ AT ] gmail [dot] com. The subject line of the email must say THE LONG WINTERS
I know there's a few people here who will love to get in on this. Thanks to Heather for the heads up. :)
OH COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!
this really sucks
I have to leave to go to chicago on may 3, to go see Ben Gibbard on may 4.
man, this really sucks... this sounds legendary
i bet Ben set this up...
hmmm maybe if i leave very early on the 4th.. ugh this sucks
Haha, yeah, I've got the old Ben Folds Five Sessions DVD. It's pretty sweet. I can't wait to see a new version of a similar concept -- I love all the music tv programs, like Austin City Limits and sometimes Soundstage.

You know this is going to HAVE to be what you do, right? ps. Bring your dad again! :)
Seriously, I'm hella excited. I just woke up from a dream in which I was at it RIGHT NOW. I actually dreamed long enough to get three songs into the setlist: Give Me A Moment, Commander, and Ultimatum.
I'm really glad this post was still here when I woke up, and I didn't dream that part too. It can't be nine days from now soon enough.
As a reminder, doors open at 7:30, show will start at 8. All ages show, ID required for licensed area. No photography, no obvious logos on hats or t-shirts.
Good thing I didn't have a HaterHigh.com t-shirt made up. Heh.

What the hell???? No logos? What am I supposed to wear?
I doubt it's a "full show" in the sense that they'll play for nearly two hours. I assume they'll play for close to an hour, though? Anyone know how long this show usually is?
So let me re-affirm the concept: kind of like VH1 storytellers. In a sense that they're playing for a studio audience so we can't scream requests and the inter-song banter will probably be kept down quite a bit.
Still, I just want to make sure that it isn't a guest appearance on some talk show involving Canadian celebrities.
I always thought Sessions @ W. 54th seemed like they edited together the best 5 or 7 songs but that the band played a longer set. The Ben Folds Five DVD is pretty long, longer than what aired, I think.
I think there are three main issues that are unclear in this topic:
1. The show isn't Sessions at West 54th. It's Beautiful Noise.
2. Rave HD, the channel it's shown on, is only on VOOM HD. VOOM is only carried on the Dish Network, only in high definition. Does anyone know anyone with VOOM?
3. If you wear the shirt of a band at their televised performance, are you immortalized as "that guy", or are you just doing your part in supporting the band?
3a. How famous do you have to be to pull off the feat of wearing your own band's shirt at your performance, without looking silly?
