John has had a fake tooth ever since he got into a fight with a Hungarian farmer over a goulash recipe on his walk through Europe. He had it fitted for little money in Bulgaria and quite amazingly it had survived many a skirmish in the band, but came undone in a fairly dramatic monorail accident in June of this year. You may not have heard of this, because it was covered up, rumor has it because the accident was caused by an endangered species of bird that Seattle's mayor (well known for his environmental stance) wanted to protect from shame and slander.
Sounds reasonable. And it would explain why we just got a Macaroni Soup recipe in "I Like Food...."!Liesbeth wrote:John has had a fake tooth ever since he got into a fight with a Hungarian farmer over a goulash recipe on his walk through Europe.
And thanks to NYA I just had a Falling Down-flashback. At least John didn't pull a D-Fens (at least I hope so).

I heard that the tooth in question, is the infamous "Tall Chicken"...leigh wrote:I heard that the tooth left of its own accord...on account of John failing to acknowledge its contribution to the lyrics of Pushover.

Damn...
Joe was a member of Buddy Holly's Crickets, and responsible for knocking Buddy's front teeth out,
before a performance in London...
(Buddy used gum as a temporary replacement onstage)
Therefore, the correct response was: "That'll Be The Day"...
*sigh*
Really???
No one's seen "The Buddy Holly Story", with Gary Busey???
REALLY?!?!?!?

Sacha Frere-Jones' take is on her blog for the New Yorker.
In his introduction, John spoke of how he was a big fan of Sasha Frere-Jones' work for many years before finding out that he was a white guy, rather than a black woman. John's voice was incredible that night; if I hadn't thought I had plans, I would've driven to Portland for the next show, in a heartbeat.
