San Francisco Show, 7/17

Postby Squid » Wed May 21, 2008 7:54 pm

Listen, you're all hip and up-to-the-minute and bleeding edge an' shit so apologies if this has already been mentioned, but les dubs du el are coming to my zip code:

Personally, I'll miss what has become somewhat of a residency at Cafe du Nord, but I understand that this indie rock thing has become bigger than the both of us, babe. Plus it's a chance to eat deep dish pizza up the street, so really, everybody wins...

Mais oui? :)

Don't worry Squiddles, considering this info has so far not been posted anywhere on this site (hey accourding to the touring section on the hp the LWs are still playing Salt Lake City!), I wouldn't worry too much about posting this in a wrong forum.

So what's the capacity of the Independent? EDIT: according to google, 500. doh.

Hmm, 500 seems a bit high actually. The first show of their last tour was at the Independent and it was a good show with a decent turnout.

Hey, Squiddo,

I'll be down in the Yay for the weekend of July 26th. You gonna be around?

p.s. It turns out I'm still alive. Who'd have thought?

Can't believe I'm missing Forr-deezy. This is the suck.

Word to the wise: Don't try to eat the baby.

You can joke about it, but you can't actually DO it.

I remember the look of joyous refreshment on Merlin's face when he shotgunned his first can of ice cold Ranier. If Ellie's anything like her dad, she'll appreciate what I'm smuggling for her in my carry-on.

Review from Facebook fan:
Great show at the Independent in SF last night! John: Are ou OK after that first-song tumble? Hope so...even though I know your guitar didn't like that so much

Review from MySpace fan:
I had high expectations for the show last night at the Independent. Unfortunaely, it uneven and chaotic. Roderick seemed wasted. This is a band with tremendous songcraft capabilities and the performance should have been mind blowing.
Isn't it time to stop winging it?

Sounds like an ... interesting show.

Sweet. I love me some epic fail. And yeah, John really needs to stop drinking/smoking pot before playing shows. I mean, what the hell is he thinking. Sheesh.

Meh. Not to be whiny, but in my defense, it was a 14 hr day @ work + babysitting a very needy, emotional pitbull* that kept me from the rock.**

But even though I wasn't there? I'd like to humbly offer that someone looking for a spit-polished schmoopyfest is missing the point of being part of Team El Dub. We are here for the gritty, aviator-wearing truth. We live ten clicks from the edge of Indie, comrade. Can't touch this.

*I'm so totally not kidding, she's currently got me pinned up against the couch with her back to me, sullenly pouting because I'm typing instead of paying attention to her. Have you ever seen a pitbull pout? It's rough.

**Which, if you know Squiddyfatfat at all, is equally depressing to her.
