espana in the fall!

Postby Liesbeth » Wed Aug 27, 2008 10:25 am

my catalan is not what it used to be, but I thinkthis says the LW are playing a Barcelona festival. Cannot find anything anywhere else though, including the festival's myspace, so I'm not exactly sure.

Did find a Madrid show through last.fm on Friday 19 September, which is on the venue's website so that one seems more solid.

ha! I'd checked myspace, facebook and the news section of the barsuk site, but I forgot the barsuk tourpage.

the Barcelona show is free but the trip isn't... if only I was rich and/or had a universal transporter hidden in the basement.

Cheapest flights from VIE to either Madrid or Valencia are € 500,- and (much) more. And to think I could fly for 700,- from Frankfurt to JNB/South Africa... meh. At least I won't even have to think about it. :(

Hmmmm...

I can get to Alicante for £118 return, but then I'd need to get the train the last 110 miles.

Don't think it's a goer.

We should try to get Red Bull to sponsor us. Mr. Mateschitz's still got way too much money on his hands apparently, and he really should stop buying sports teams.

That's not part of BAM?

How exactly does this festival work, anyway?

It's a different festival-- Cadiz is nowhere near Barcelona--just everything in Spain is Santa Maria something or other. I mean, they name guys Maria, it's just out of control!

One could make a killing selling dual-purpose T-shirts with "Puerto de Santa Maria" on them.

I wouldn't put my money on that. Looks like Barsuk made an error - the BAM festival is definitely in Barcelona and as far as I can tell Placa Reial (Royal Square) is nowhere near any Puerto de Santa Maria.

Sounds like we need Galleta for a judges' ruling on this Spanish love-in...

I'm sorry, I've been neglecting my forum duties lately.

This is a typing mistake of course. We'll change that on the barsuk site now.

El Puerto de Santa María (don't forget the 'el') it's a super cute small village in Cádiz. It's a great place to play shows.

The band is headlining the BAM festival in Barcelona together with Primal Scream. Theirs, it's a big show at Plaza Real, a square near by the Ramblas. It's the city fest so all the shows are free and it's usually super-crowded.

As for the other two spanish dates, the show in Valencia is handled by the people at Tranquilo Música at Sala El Loco and in Madrid they'll be playing at the very stylish Sala El Sol.

Ryanair? Easyjet?

I was wondering whether flights from the US (via US air carriers) got a lot more expensive when the Euro was so high compared to the $?

Anyway, Placa Reial looks like an amazing venue for a rock show. Paint me jealous.

Oh and I think LW need to go back to the UK, the Keane boys and girls really miss them. (I thought that thread was lovely. just be warned, it includes yet more tooth-speculations!)

So this topic links to the Keane board and that Keane board topic links to a topic on our board - we might end up in some time-space loop here.
Anyway, after reading the Keane board I rather feel like a bad fan for never holding candlelight vigils in the hope that TLW will come and tour here. I just sort of assume that they will... Who knows, some devoted candle-burning might have gotten them closer than Barcelona.

I don't think I've ever heard a Keane song in my life. I should go to their MySpace or something, maybe...
