so... when's the album due out?
Re-watching that YouTube cowbell clip and hearing little bits of that tune coming through the speakers made me want it more, so I figured I'd ask the masses. Is there an ish on the date? Or did I miss it here on an earlier post someplace?
Side note, love that this message board is so active, with posts and love notes and such. It makes me reminisce ye olde Yahoo Groups pages... sigh. I'll spare the space here on how I miss getting mailers, like, in the mail.

Re: so... when's the album due out?
Hey Victoria... from what I understand, most of the music is made (although I'm sure there's always last minute tweaks to make, and songs to pull out last-minute), but the lyrics are still being worked on. I'm hoping one song is just him reciting the recent Seattle Weekly blog about beards in a sing-song voice. Then there's mixing, mastering, and other post production work.... so I wouldn't hold my breath just yet.

Much thanks for the quick reply.
And for what it's worth... that's got to be my all-time fave of the lot, the beard article. So well done.

I guess John's the only one who can really answer that question
EDIT: he'll most likely answer you straight from his tub, via twitter.

You could of course set every topic to 'Notify me when a reply is posted', but it's not the same.

That thread made me happy for so many reasons. Why isn't that bethany chick registered here?

If I had to place a bet on what's gonna be released first, a new LW album or the Dorsia documentary, I think my money would be on Adam...

Stereogum releases a progress report on the new Long Winters album: http://stereogum.com/archives/progress- ... 68342.html
New information? Absolutely none. Except, apparently, there's ACTUAL recordings around now.

"It's been a pretty hilarious process," say Long Winters main guy John Roderick of their transient recording process.

Five months later, and still not one syllable of lyric is recorded! Which comes first, TLW fourth album, or Chinese Democracy?
Oh, wait...
Oh, wait...
Re: so... when's the album due out?
If you are referring to a Chinese Democracy as in a political system in an eastern Asian country, your question could still be valid :) But even if the album won't be released until 2010, I wouldn't be surprised if the new website still won't be online before the release.**sour29 wrote:Five months later, and still not one syllable of lyric is recorded! I thought it was a nice little article tho. Also, the photo of John with the headphones on was completely new to me. And it's awesome. Interesting mic in that picture, too.New information? Absolutely none.

the more I hear about the recording process, the more curious I get. Could be absolutely brilliant, could not, but it sure will be interesting to find out.
Re: so... when's the album due out?
Looks like a Shure SM7B with the windscreen removed; common for voiceover/broadcast work, and sometimes music. When I used one at my college radio station, in the production class, it was the first time my voice ever sounded like it sounds in my head. Someday, I will possess one, but it seems like an appropriate pre-amp is the pricey part of the equation.Moni wrote: Interesting mic in that picture, too.

Re: so... when's the album due out?
To be fair, I bet the Long Winters have at least three more albums before democracy in China is even seriously discussed as a legitimate probability.Moni wrote:If you are referring to a Chinese Democracy as in a political system in an eastern Asian country, your question could still be valid :)

Well, it looks like I'm not the only one who's not playing fair/nice anymore:sour29 wrote:To be fair, I bet the Long Winters have at least three more albums before democracy in China is even seriously discussed as a legitimate probability.
John via Twitter,
Heh. If that really works I'll have to buy them flowers!"My record label has given up on being nice. They said, 'Play us a new song by this weekend or you're in big trouble, Mister.' Hard at work!"

If I knew all I had to say was "Or you're in big trouble, Mister" (is it weird I imagine Josh saying this like Michelle Tanner?), we would've had a new album by now.
