Hey, I'm playing a couple times in Portland this week. Wednesday at the Baghdad Theater and Sunday at the Mississippi Studios. Come on out!

Baghdad, Mississippi, Portland? That makes sense.

Those Pacific NWers get all the shows, and it isn't fair. Just because you live where good musicians are.

Shouldn't there be some sort of agri-musical exchange? We here in Iowa can send you some corn and you Seattle/Portland types can send us some rock?

Tonight's show:
Word to the Wise(men)
When: Wed., Dec. 2, 7:30 p.m.
Phone: 225-5555
Price: $12-15
Three storytelling groups team up for a holiday-themed extravaganza of true tales told live; Back Fence PDX, Mortified, and True Stories present Word to the Wise(men) tonight, a wordy winter wonderland of embarrassing personal accounts and festive anecdotes. Hosted by Adam Shearer, with musical guest John Roderick of the Long Winters. Did we mention free Saint Cupcakes?

hmmm...

Well, geez...if I were told there would be cupcakes, I would've hopped on the next plane!

WAIT! Hold your frackin horses. Am I reading this right? John Roderick is playing a show with Kathleen Edwards?!?! MY Kathleen Edwards?!?! And I'm not there? This breaks my heart. BUT, I hope you guys have a fun night, and be sure to pass on my non-creepy, un-stalkerish but totally unbridled love for KE, JR!

And I hope you remember her when you're looking for an opening act in Toronto.

That just sounds too good to be true:

Sunday Dinner with John (a Book Launch)
with FOOD BOOZE BOOKS & SONGS
feat. JOHN RODERICK (The Long Winters)
special guest KATHLEEN EDWARDS

Jeez.

Excellent idea! Will trade huge amounts of Red Bull for a TLW show around here. And Torten. Lots and lots of Torten and Strudel. You know you want some!

December 6, 2009 - Mississippi Studios - Portland, OR

Ultimatum
Honest
Pushover
Hindsight
Not Moving To Portland
The Commander Thinks Aloud
Scared Straight
Cinnamon
Gimme All Your Lovin'

Kathleen Edwards sang on a few tunes (Honest, Commander, Scared, Cinnamon, Give Me All Your Lovin'). I'll type up a better recap of the evening (it was pretty awesome), but here it is for now. I got a decent recording of most of it, I'll see about getting that to sour for haterhigh.com. They closed with the ZZ Top cover.

WIN! You are my hero. Did you catch Kathleen Edwards' set as well? Sounds like it was almost a duet set. Super sweet! Wish I could have been there. PM me if you need log-in information again, cool? :)

Cam, buddy -- you've been holding out on us. I was trying to Google something only slightly related, and came across your blog with this photograph!

but now Sour's holding out on the blog URL, which I"m curious for. Or are there intimate details in there that we shouldn't know about?

Not my URL to share, m'lady. I only read the one blog about JR/KE and was on my way. If cam_rock wants to share his blog, I'll follow one of his links to it. :)

what one finds freely on the interwebs one can share, can one not? Especially since what I suspected was true: two more LW photos! Cam, you are lucky, how many other boardies have seen three shows in the last year?

I saw TLW at Bumbershoot (pics sitting on my system somewhere). Strangely enough I think i was standing near cam at Bumbershoot. the way his picture looks is awfully familar. I also caught John at The Largo/El Rey shows (no pics, but signed book :D)
