Well, seeing as if you click on "buy a ticket" it says The Long Winters with Special Guests, I'd say The Stranger Ticketing Service let the cat out of the proverbial bag. But I think it's supposed to be kept on the down low... shhhhhh.

It's possible there are exciting and intricate bean-counting legalities that keep Olivia and Juice from enjoying their moment in the sun on printed tickets and Pollstar rankings.

Money and lawyers: clearly, they hate spaghetti.

New MySpace blog.
Sorry we haven't checked in for a while. There's been a lot of hair-cutting, beard-shaving, tweet-writing, garden-tending, cat-feeding, anagram-decoding, crossword-puzzling, song-writing, album-recording kinda busyness for some time now. [...] We're going to gear up for our little string of shows by hanging out with our new friends in The Newton Girls, who have an important show at the Crocodile in Seattle on May 26th. We are mutual fans of each others work, and have lent them a snippet of the When I Pretend To Fall album artwork for the show poster. We know all Long Winters fans in the Seattle-area will love The Newton Girls as much as they love us, so come out and enjoy the show. If you see us in the crowd, say hi."
I hope everyone on that coast already has their ticket! :)

Wouldn't it be great if John got a girl band to open at The Croc who introduced themselves as The Newton Girls, just to see people's faces?

So is it time yet to start speculating who will be drummer for these shows? According to Ken Stringfellow's Facebook The Posies are doing recordings for their new album in Paris this week, but I don't know if that includes Darius Minwalla since they did recordings in Spain before and he may have layed down the drum tracks then.
Okay, it's idle fan speculation, but I'm just curious, y'know...

Well, Michael Lerner is going to be playing with Nada Surf across town... so unless he's pulling double duty, I guess he's out?

My wife and I just got home from the Berbati's Pan show, it was great. There were some new tunes, some classics and a certain cover that will be a treat for those going to Sasquatch. John explained that Nabil was off running 4AD records, and Jonathan Rothman wants to be a Math Teacher. The other ranks were filled with Eric Corson on Guitar, Andy Fitts on Bass and Alex Wescoat on Drums. It was also explained that the 2 new members played with David Bazan. Banter was in full force and was great. I'll upload some pictures when I get home from Portland in a few days.

Everyone's at Sasquatch now. You can totally spill the beans. I give you permission. Besides, this isn't a blog, it's a message board. ;)

I have to say that if I had had a math teacher with the coolitude of Jonathan, I probably would have been much better at it. How he would prefer the steadiness of a teacher's post over the uncertainty of playing with The Long Winters every now and again I can't really fathom, but it sure is our loss. He managed to rock guitar and keyboards in a pretty awesome way.
But hey, I dare say I would like the new guitar-based band, if I'd get to see it.

In 9 or 10 hours we'll get to hear what that cover was, right?

What's a messageboard for if not to hear news first?

The Grateful Dead's 'Touch of Grey' was the cover.
