Re: John to Play Three Shows This Summer at The Triple Door
Poor squiddie!
I never for one moment dreamt that I was going to be able to attend this show, but I too want reports. I did get to hear and see a mini-opera yesterday, staged by a number of colleagues for the farewell of my manager. That was well surprising, I wonder if TLW's show could have topped that in the surprise department. Yes, probably.

Re: John to Play Three Shows This Summer at The Triple Door
I only have time for a really quick report and set list. I'm sure others will give a more detailed report than I can right now. It was an awesome (mostly) John + Eric duo show that involved Arcade Fire jokes, drummer jokes, forgotten lyrics, perimeter checks, instrument switching, a Jason Finn (of the Presidents of the USA) cameo, and much, much more!
Set list:
Ultimatum (John solo on guitar)
Hindsight (John solo on guitar)
Not Moving to Portland (John and Eric on guitar)
Bride and Bridal (John on guitar, Eric on slide guitar)
Clouds (John on guitar, Eric on slide guitar)
Mimi (John on piano, Eric on slide guitar)
Commander Thinks Aloud (John on Piano, Eric on drums)
Johnny Be Good (Chuck Berry tease) (John on guitar, Eric on drums)
Copernicus (John on guitar, Eric on drums)
Give Me a Moment (John on guitar, Eric on drums)
Gimme All Your Lovin' (John on piano, Eric on guitar)
Scared Straight (John on guitar, Eric on bass)
Pushover (John on guitar, Eric on bass, Finn on drums)
Connections in Nashville (John on guitar, Eric on guitar, Finn on drums)
Blue Diamonds (John on piano, Eric on bass, Finn on drums)
*new song*. (John on piano, solo)
John forgot the lyrics to Scared Straight midway through, and was jamming with Eric to stall until I could yell out the lyrics for him so he could continue ("You were hurt, so you got hard") ;-)

Wow! I'd love to hear that version of Mimi.
Who am I kidding? I'd love to hear this entire set!

There was also a new song at the end.
Hearing it gave me that feeling you get when they put on that heavy lead vest over your body before administering a mouth x-ray. What a stomach-punch of a song, in the best possible way.

I'm terrible at giving reports on these types of things, but the show really was great. Both John and Eric sounded great, and I love the fact that they both played drums at one point during the show. They had a ton of instruments on stage and every single one of them was played at some point. I went with my friend Roxanne, and when John forgot the lyrics she totally leaned over to me and said "that was Unremarkable who shouted out the lyrics, wasn't it?" To be honest, by the time John asked for help, I had forgotten where we were in the song.
Does anybody know what the thing on the floor next to the drums was? It was basically a piano that you played with your feet, but I want to know what it's actually called. And if it's actually called "foot piano", I'm going to be very disappointed.
Roxanne and I were sitting next to a young man who had come alone, and it was his very first Long Winters show. After it ended I asked him how he liked it, and he was pretty much blown away. He was impressed by all of it, and said something about how witty John is.
Adam, are there going to be any videos from this show floating around? Hmm?

I haven't looked at the footage yet. I think we shot 4-5 songs, so chances are something will shake out of those.
