New Long Winters Show - 11/8/13
Tickets aren't available yet but there is an upcoming Long Winters show at the Neptune - http://www.stgpresents.org/neptune/cale ... ng-winters. It's part of Barsuk's 15th anniversary celebration and they will be playing When I Pretend to Fall in its entirety. It's been a while since I've been to a Long Winters show (as opposed to a John Roderick show) so I'm very happy. Is it too early to speculate who will be in the band?

Whoah. Blanket Hog! Live!
Once again I'm tempted to say stuff it and book a ticket regardless, but I've just put my savings in a new house. Le sigh. I know I saw 9 shows in the 12 months after WIPFT came out, but that's 10 years ago, and it's such a great album.

Being a responsible adult is not nearly as much fun as we were led to believe. Hopefully someone will record the show and post it somewhere.Liesbeth wrote:Whoah. Blanket Hog! Live!

Think I am 99% going to be there. Should know next week. Ridiculous, but this will FIRST TLW show that I will have been to.

I do hope you can make it, it should be special, and I guess this is an anniversary party you of all people shouldn't miss!

Re: New Long Winters Show - 11/8/13
OK... am I actually thinking of flying out for this?
Did I just price flights?
Did I actually think... "Well, I could fly into Seattle Friday, go to the show... then since it will be late I can hang out til last call and then go straight to the airport, so then I don't have to get a hotel room."?
Can a 36-yr-old father of 2 still pull this off?
Am I really considering this?

According to John's Twitter they will also be playing an anniversary show in New York this fall. I haven't seen any specifics yet but that show might be easier for some people to attend.

Given this is what I did for a few HD shows, I attest that it can be done....and may be done again. No You Are wrote:OK... am I actually thinking of flying out for this?

This would appear to be NYC show John was referring to...

Yep, NY show details coming soon.
As well as the line-up for both shows. Which is good... Really good!

Re: New Long Winters Show - 11/8/13
After a bunch of scheming and planning, it looks like I won't be able to make the Seattle overnight afterall.
Someone assure me these won't be the last Long Winters shows ever. This hibernation is worrying me.

who knows... if we're lucky, these shows will prove to be such an inspiration that they're the start of many more to come...
Re: New Long Winters Show - 11/8/13
Just a quick note because I'm exhausted from being at Bumbershoot all day. John mentioned during one of his interviews that in addition to the Seattle and NY shows he is also planning a Spanish tour. Sorry, I don't have any more information. Hopefully this is good news for the European fans. He also mentioned that Eric will only be at the Seattle show due his commitments to his new job.

Re: New Long Winters Show - 11/8/13
Hey, it's only a small step from Spain to the Netherlands, just the length of France and a bit of Belgium... I'm totally up for it!
As for the line-up: It's gonna be on the TLW website soon, so I can spill it here: the band is gonna consist of the original WIPTF line-up: Eric, Michael Shilling and Sean Nelson! So cool.

I'm going to the Seattle show. Available for pints of beer and daytime tourist things. Wonder if John would come out of retirement as a tour guide?

Scared Straight from the CMJ show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfrIS8qztLE. This makes me realize how much I'd missed seeing the songs played as a band.

Re: New Long Winters Show - 11/8/13
oh gosh, you lucky, lucky people... this is sweet stuff, even if it means listening through the bad sound quality
Re: New Long Winters Show - 11/8/13
The show does appear to be sold out now so I hope everyone got their tickets. Not sure if there will be any at the door.
