He's the author of sci-fi books so good you hate to call them sci-fi. They're full of literary and cultural references and social commentary and well-done science and all that good stuff that sci-fi is supposed to be about. The word avatar came from Snow Crash, which is a good intro to his material. Some of his later books get a little...dense.
'zactly!

Hold me.
THAT's what i'm talking about. it's freakishly off-putting, isn't it?
and it's not even a 'scuse me while i kiss this guy' type of moment because I actually know the real lyrics and yet continue to hear the word Menudo.

X-Files, Season Three all the way! i wrote a paper once, 35 pages, specifically on the "Jose Chung's From Outer Space" episode, for a class called "studies: science fiction" which was really about the UFO phenomenon.
