People shouldn't yell out dumb sh*t at LW shows...
I'm kidding...
I was just reminded of the time that I was being removed by a bouncer who told me:
"You can't go around calling famous people assholes"!
The LW show at the Merc was a riot...
After the opening song, (Jet City, or was it Stupid?)
I yelled out "Nora"...
John replied "Hush...You don't yell out requests after the 1st song"!!!
The crowd laughed...
I yelled out "The Weight" after Sean sang "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", and Sean replied:
"No, that song has way too many verses"
My friend yelled "freebird" which got a chuckle out of John and Eric...
Then my other friend, Avi, yelled "hot for teacher", which almost immediatly turned The Long Winters into a VH cover band...
Sean did his best DLR impersonation, and John's guitar was fantastic...
(actually, it was a friggin' riot, which inevitably, cut the set short...Kidding!)
But afterward, I tried to get a feel from the people that were there to see
the Thrills, or the other bands there, what they thought of the LW set, and
I got a lot of positive feedback on the music and people really liked how loose they were on stage...
Cool...
Rich
ps-any chance I'll actually ever hear "Freebird" at a LW show?

No one should yell stupid crap at any show. Except me, of course, because I'm hilarious.

My experience:
I went to the LW show in Houston last year. Carissa's Wierd and The Prom were there. Carissa's Wierd went on before LW and the crowd was liking them. Right when they started playing the dark depressing version of Avril's "Complicated" the guys from the Prom started going insane, they were riding on each others backs, flashing CW and and screaming "Play skater boi!!! COME ON!! HE WAS A SKATER BOY.." Carissa's Wierd looked very annoyed and so did everyone else. It made it very difficult for them to perform.

It's so uncool. I mean, I first listened to The Long Winters because I loved Harvey Danger, but that's not why I listen to them still. It's so lame to go to a show just to be all gooey about something unrealted. C'mon guys, love the one you're with.
