I dont’ think so...
I was actually surprised it took so long until someone posted that question – I personally have a knack for trivia stuff like that, and feel very lonely with it. aw.

Not to further derail the thread but...

My band will be called 'Troy's Bucket' after the monologue delivered by Sean Astin in Goonies:

"Don't you realize? The next time you see sky, it'll be over another town. The next time you take a test, it'll be in some other school. Our parents, they want the best of stuff for us. But right now, they got to do what's right for them. Because it's their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it's our time. It's our time down here. That's all over the second we ride up Troy's bucket."

Do I need to register this name with the 'indie-rock band union'? Or have I effectively 'got dibbs' now?

nerdish as I normally am, with band names I just don't want to know. Bad names should be buried and forgotten (sorry, Ice the Kicker would go in that category).
Good names should just be left to work their magic - yesterday I found out where Death Cab For Cutie got their name from and it took some of the glow away. Not all though, and it tells me I should listen more to music from before I was born...

Hawaiian Shirt Day.

Nope, not a ska band. That one (and PC Load Letter) have been used in public. Feel free to throw stuff.

hm. i just reread Perks of Being a Wallflower and noticed in one entry he capitalizes Long Winters. i wondered vaguely if that influenced it... of course the boys are probably a bit old for coming of age novels by now.

I once offered my friend's step dad to name his new blues band "The Vagina Dentatas"...they ended up using "hemp tone".
I don't think he likes me.
