Special: Watch the Video for "Blue Diamonds"

Post by Merlin »

What the heck, you've all been good. To celebrate our 400th member on the messageboard, how about some ice cream?

The Global Inter-net Consideration of the Long Winters proudly presents the video for "Blue Diamonds"--the lead-off track from When I Pretend to Fall--directed by Mr. Michael Chick.

And just so you know...that version that you saw running on the MTV a while back? It had been re-edited and cut up for "The Man." Fuck that. This here is the original full-length version Michael did for the boys. I think you'll find it makes more sense, but still prominently features John being smacked at by little girls. Which is nice.

Enjoy, and thanks to each of the 400 warm bodies and their peerless love of The Rock.

Yes, it makes SO much sense now... Um.

I'd like to hear John's comments on what it was like having a woman running into you at top speed while you're strapped to a chair.

It should work okay if you have Quicktime installed.

I do think it's much more sensible than the version that was shown on MTV--yeah, definitely.

In that version the intro is intercut through the rest of the video with no dialog (just the subtitles). There's not as much idea--as here--that John's being shown evidence to disprove his story.

John looks like Warren Zevon in this video.
It's a great video. Thanks for letting us see the unedited version.

Hurrah for 400 et merci for the treat!

Now I can keep on watching it until it makes sense... it should some day.
Thing is, I get so distracted by some of the images that I cannot concentrate on the larger picture

is it just me and my crappy computer or is everyone having a hard time with some of the footage because the lighting is so dark? what i could see was great but i think i missed much of the hostage/kidnapped stuff with john because of the lighting.

fyi-it kind of made sense...i think

I think it's a combination of the Godfather II-esque lighting and my skin-flint compression scheme. :)

Someday (bandwidth permitting), we'd like to post a bigger version with sweet-ass sound.

A Wacky Hunch That Will Be Totally Disproven In Due Course.

Erm,

I have to pull up netflix and rent the thing, but this seems at least slightly referential to "The Marathon Man", starring Dustin Hoffman? What with the diamonds and all?

Is it just me? Of course it is.

Also, kudos for featuring a screaming woman in a ball gown swigging Makers Mark.

If I had my way, all my weekends would look pretty much like that.

-frowns- I keep getting this error message...

Hey. This is a 403 error.
You’re totally not allowed to do what you were doing. This doesn’t make you a bad person—we’re just protective, you know?

If you’re looking for the video for Blue Diamonds by the Long Winters, start here, please.

You should write to Merlin if you think something is missing, lost, or just screwed up.

I know it doesn’t help much but…

You shouldn't get that if you're accessing it from this page (meaning this page). To minimize bandwidth theft, I've limited access in such a way that you have to click the link from this site.

Is that not working properly for you?

Do let me know if you get that error when, say, clicking here.

My gut guess is that it might have to do with proxy servers--are you on AOL or behind a corporate firewall by chance?

Thanks.

Looks like it was probably Norton Firewall that did it. I disabled it and it's working now. Thanks. :)
