Texas tour dates-WTF?!?

Postby nwheather » Thu Apr 22, 2004 12:27 pm

Since I'm stuck driving to MF Texas to see these guys, I took a look at the websites for Tree's in Dallas and Parish in Austin. Neither has any mention of the Decemberists/LW playing, and both have other dates listed through July. So...

1) Are these dates/venues positively scheduled?

2) Do I have to buy tickets through the venues, or is there an other/better way?

I'm freaking out a bit here; if I find out later that I'm SOL because I didn't know what to do, I'm gonna be pissed. (both meanings)

Kind of, and thanks very much for the info...nothing on Dallas, eh? Dammit. It's 300 miles closer!

Okay, so the 6/21 Dallas show is now on Trees' website, but...

There's a link to buy tickets, but it says $10.00 'Cover Charge'.
Most places I've ever been, cover charge means cash at the door.
So which is it: a venue with tickets or a club with a cover charge?

At this point, I don't know if I'll even have the money/leave time to go, but I'd sure like to be armed with the facts anyway.

As a person whose concert/club experience would probably be considered here to be rather limited, let me just say: good live music is awesome to behold, but why-oh-WHY does it have to be such a pain in the ass to procure?!? ARG!! (Okay, part of it is probably my location, but still...)

Tree's

Postby middswing » Fri May 28, 2004 8:36 pm

Oh! A post I can answer!

I've been to tree's many many times. It's a club in Dallas located near a strip called Deep Ellum, with lots of other clubs. You buy tickets in advance, from Front Gate tickets:

https://www.frontgatetickets.com/

It's $10 per ticket and you can pick them up at the box office or get them mailed out (for a fee, of course). Once you have the tickets, you are fully paid. I highly recommend buying tickets in advance, as tree's can and does sell out. If you want to know what the club looks like, here are pictures from an Old 97's show. The club has a balcony on the three walls around the stage and actual trees growing through the roof.

Hope this helps. Post back if you have more questions.

Thanks for the info; I have bought my ticket!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Now all I have to do is get 2 new tires and an oil change and make it to Dallas and back relatively unharmed.

Anyone else going besides me and no pic?
