You shouldn't feel bad. Celebrities are intimidating. Even local mini-celebrities. I've exchanged e-mails w/ John but I'm stil too nervous to actually say hi at the shows.

Really? This is the same guy who made fun of me at a show, even though I was OBVIOUSLY dealing with a gusher of a bloody nose. BLOODY NOSE! I'll send you to the Vera Project, John Roderick!

1st concert

Postby matt » Fri May 21, 2004 11:40 am

My first concert was Duran Duran at the Seattle Arena, which I think is gone or renamed or something. It was at the Seattle Center, but it wasn't Key Arena or Memorial Stadium... oh whatever.

I wish said Duran Duran concert was something cool like the Rio tour, but alas is was the Big Thing tour instead. The Pursuit of Happiness opened.

My second concert was Phil Collins at the Tacoma Dome on the But Seriously tour. Just another day in paradise, yo.

When they renamed the Colliseum as the Key Arena, they renamed the former Arena the Mercer Arena. This is where I saw my second big show, End-It, which featured weezer, green day, a very angry version of hole (slightly post kurt), the very boring (to a fifteen year old me) sky cries mary, and 311 and rancid, neither of whom sounded anything like what they became popular with, later.

My first show was a couple years earlier, at the first end-fest, near scenic Bremerton. My sister took me, and I got to see the beastie boys, Mudhoney, L7, Sarah MacLaughlan (?), and apparently the charlatans UK... but I'd completely forgotten that. I was mostly there to see the posies. Sweet, Sweet posies.

That's why they call him 'Wounded Lion.'

Who I'm really scared of is Sean.

Maybe we'll have to get together a group of people who are terrified of him and then all face our fears together and say hello at the next show.

Nuh uh! I'm not afraid of any of em but the J.

He reminds me of every guy who ever really broke my heart. I've learned to instinctively fear and avoid such men.

You can't blame me for that.

ok....I'm a little bit of a pussy.

"Daddy, how old will I hafta be before you can take me to see
Harvey Danger, or Long Winters, or Weezer, or Jimmy Eat World"?
*As he admires his LW Birthday poster,
(A "Thrills" poster, signed by John, Sean, Eric, and Mike-1 on the back)
next to his signed HD poster from when he was 2yrs old*

I can't wait to see the look on his face....

It's killing me, not to tell him...
But it'll all be worth it...

Next Summer...
Jay AND Carter...
