John-

Is Samaritan played with a capo on the 2nd fret? In E?

And do you have a lot of guitar layers, or is that just a fistful of finger pickin I hear?

I play it in open E. It may be that we sped the tape when we mixed, but I don't remember doing it. Does it play as F#?

I think there's only one guitar track playing the basics. Just finger-picking madness.

Ok that makes sense. I have been trying to do it in standard tuning. I appreciate the help.

Hooray. Did you try it in standard tuning? That's how it was written.

Yes, I play it as an E barre chord on the 7th fret for the intro, then slide it back down to a standard E for the verse and stuff. I'm not sure if that's how you do it, but it sounds right, so I go with it.

And I got the little hammers on too...I realized there WAS a method to that madness.
