Bass Amp question

Postby Dr. Confusion » Thu Jan 29, 2004 8:43 am

Hi,

I was knocked out by the Bass when I saw TLW at the Tractor a couple months ago. I know the bassist plays a Ric, but what the heck kinda amp does he use to get that overwhelmingly gorgeous sound?

Thanks in advance!

he had an Ashdown when they came to CLE in '02. dang, that was a good sounding combo with the ric. they're english, hard to find, the only place i've seen 'em is on EBAY.

I'm here to say that it's all in his fingers.

I totally agree on this one, John.
The thing that matters the most, is that Eric’s very talented and gifted.

Give him whatever guitar or whatever amp, and he’s a good boy.
I’m sure…

And most of all; he’s got a lot more in his fingers than you all probably know!

Ashdown

Postby Eric » Mon Feb 02, 2004 3:26 am

The amp i use is an Ashdown ABM 500 2X10 combo and i've used it on every tour we've done in the U.S. I love it and i've been able to coax some really cool sounds out of it.

Ashdown is an English company and the amps aren't in every music store, but I've seen them at the Guitar Center and at Bass Northwest in Seattle and a couple of other music stores I've popped into around the U.S. and in Europe have had one sitting around, so they're not too hard to come by if you're really looking.

yep, i troll around the whole board from time to time to see if there's anything interesting going on. and who knows, i may actually learn something in the event i would need to know any musical type schtuff. ya know there could come a day i actually learn how to play that bass that has been sitting so nicely displayed in my bedroom for the last 2 years and i might need to have this knowledge.

why are you so stunned there's a girl in here? girls can rock too ya know! :)
and is it posted somewhere that i am a female? how do you know that? does my name give it away?

girls can rock too ya know!

That’s the way I like it!

Beside myself; I know a lot of other girls who play bass. And I’m sure that they all are interested in this kind of topics.

….I only wishes.... I had longer fingers.
That would make playing a lot easier. No amp or guitar can fix that.

okay, i have a long history of trying to make a funny, and getting those strange, hateful looks instead...
of course there's a long history great female bassists, including Kim Gordon who has been a major influence on my own playing,

that said, there's a tendency for guys to over obsess over the tools (ok, toys)(dude, is that the new re-issue tube screamer?!!?), and i am imaging this area as a ramshackle tree house with a hand painted sign that say's
"no gurls!!"

and again, that's supposed to be FUNNY, i would never dream of excluding anyone from a forum that encourages musical pursuits.

and btw: just pick up that bass and play it... it's not hard to get started and be good enough to play with others
