Thanks in advance (and in retrospect) for your patience with the various belches, farts, and boogers as we iron out some last minute details with this "soft launch" of the messageboard portion of our show.

And, if it's not been made clear, please don't hesitate to post any problems you're having--especially weird MySQL messages and whatnot. Also apologies in advance if your cookies get fried from time to time (we're working on that).

So if you're having unexplainable craziness, either post a reply on this thread or email me (thorstenson at thelongwinters dot com) and I'll put it on the to-do list.

Rock on, Chachi.

I'm either just weird or I did something wrong, but obviously the sigs don't show up...?

You don't *seem* weird Liz. :-)

I flipped 'em off for the moment. Waiting for a final call from Sir John on this.

You can definitely have a jokey picture, if it's any consolation.

I don't see the poll thread (what single would you pick). when you click on the "go to last post" icon tho, it'll take you to this thread... but it doesn't appear when you view the forum... just don't tell me I need glasses...

No liz, you're totally right.

I tried noodling with it--I'm not sure what's up.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Weird.

So I added a new post to the thread and now it *seems* okay.

I think we're definitely having some MySQL indigestion.

Liz, you're officially Vice-President in charge of telling me about things like this when you notice them.

Congratulations on your promotion.

:)

Yessir - if that means I get a free sundae every first day of the month, I accept. If not.... I accept, too. I'm not picky really.

P.S. I didn't get a pop up window when I got my inaugurate PM (and it is set to that feature).....

Would you all mind trying to replicate the various problems you were having?

I think I may have fixed it, but I want you guys to check it.

Here:
http://www.thelongwinters.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=94

I tried to edit a message in a topic I started with a poll, and (as far as I can tell) the poll disappeared. So I put the questions back in (to the best of my recollection). And now, they're all duplicates.

So there's some sort of problem between me and the poll-editing system.

[ignore]

This is a test in order to ascertain whether or not I can actually post on here without getting a stupid error message.

i think i burned some cookies or something...

today i logged in, i appeared on the "registered users online now" list, but it was as if i was someone else now, at the bottom and the top of the page i still had the "log in" command. i logged in once more, and then it worked... i do get logged out tho every time i leave the board (borwser remains open).

i guess someone messed with the cookie option on the pc? how rude.

Yeah, I dunno Liz.

One thing to be aware of if it helps at all...Visiting each one of those addresses and logging in would produce a different cookie.

Any chance that would account for any wonkiness? FWIW, http://www.thelongwinters.com/board/ is the "canonical" address. :)

probably... i wish i had access to the internet options, but the lab staff blocked the access... very smart... grmpf.

thanks tho, i'll keep that in mind!

sometimes the board (unlike the rest of the site) takes a really long time to load, also posting and viewing threads takes a very long time... it usually lasts for at least a couple of minutes, then everything's normal again... and I don't think it's my internet connection....?

Yeah, I've notcied that too.

I suspect that this the periodic self-maintenance that the MySQL database and possibly the server are performing.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
