Wikipedia says yes.

She's been Minerva since a 1942 comic strip.

It doesn't make me feel that differently about her -- but her origin is slightly surprising. She was designed to be a substitute bunny. Mickey was replacing the randy Oswald the Rabbit, so he needed a skirt to chase. Minnie was the skirt -- from the very first Mickey Mouse cartoon:
Minnie, who at the time was not yet named, was designed in the fashion of a "flapper" girl. She was so probably intended to follow the trends of then-modern youth culture in an effort to add to her audience appeal.

Mickey and Minnie debuted together in Plane Crazy, first released on May 15, 1928. Minnie is invited to join Mickey in the first flight of his aircraft. She accepts the invitation but not his request for a kiss in mid-flight. Mickey eventually forces Minnie into a kiss but this only results in her parachuting out of the plane.

If my employer took "disciplinary action" against me,
as a result of my shiny, red TLW kazoo,
do you think the A.C.L.U. you come to my aid???

I don't know about them, but I would:

"I would like to point out, your honor was never in one of his films"
"I was in Gremlins"
"Yeah, but not Gremlins 2."
"I'm...going to allow it."

Just wait till I get to the case winning question.

Another dumbass question:

If it was better to have not loved at all, than to have loved and lost,
wouldn't it ultimately prove that ignorance is bliss???

Yes - however, as any fule kno, it's better to have loved and lost.

You're assuming "bliss" is the same as "better." It isn't. Not all the time, anyway.

If I were to guess, it would be something environmentally friendly, like Crystal Essence...

I read this entire thread today and laughed like crazy.

We need to revive this baby or find something just as fun to do.

I thought this was a really cool piece of trivia, and decided to Google it for more info. But, unfortunately, it seems like it is half-assed. At least according to Merriam-Webster and Dictionary.com.

The online etymology dictionary thinks it is perhaps a humorous mispronunciation of haphazard.

The dictionary says "half-assed" is circa 1930s...
I'll have to scan, but I'm almost sure "half-fast" pre-dates that...

Also, a friend reminded me of the Simpson's Mary Poppins spoof, which included a song called "Half Fast"
The quote "Half fast, and half witted at best" keeps coming up...
